What would seem a big deal to you? If she was 11? (Nov 25, 2020 02:46 PM)Forensic Wrote: What would seem a big deal to you? If she was 11? That's a bit extensive, don't ya think? Lol. Come on now guys, let's be real. The fact that we're even having this conversation right now is a tad unsettling. (Nov 25, 2020 02:49 PM)Asgard Wrote: That's a bit extensive, don't ya think? Lol. I just think it's strange he doesn't see that as a big deal. 13 and 17 is a huge difference in maturity & mentality. Although I agree with you, the level of maturity and mentality would be much the same, imo. They're both teenagers.. pre-adults.. One just has a few more years of stupidity under their belt than the other.. that's all. Either way you look at it - it's wrong.
The thing with age gap is it mainly depends on WHEN.
If you're 28 and you'll date a 34 year old noone bats an eye, but if you're 20 and you date a 16 year old it's not the same, it's all about mental maturity, even if someone seems mature for thier age they still make decisions they might and probably will regret later on, which is why this law was created. The USA doesn't have federal age limits does it? Isn't it different in every state over there? In the majority of the world the age of consent is 16. But sex education classes and parents should be teaching young men the age of consent in their country, jurisdiction or state. A 17 year old should also know that 13 is a baby really.
Imo when ur like that age, you shouldn't mess with anyone who isn't like a year either way of your age, until your 19 or so (just my opinion) cuz at that age, people are at extremely different levels of maturity even in just a 2 year age gap.

I am in the USA and this is where the Romeo & Juliet Law takes place most often. You're right, age of legal consent is indeed 16, however - at the parents discretion until they're 18.

But age of consent around the world varies from 14-21 I think there may from memory even be a third world country which is still 12 which is terrible. Don't remember which one. One African country it is 21. Japan has a federal age of 14 which sounds awful but in the prefectures in Japan it's apparently usually actually 16. In the USA it's different in every state and the Romeo and Juliet Laws will be different in every state and some won't even have them I believe. I'm just going from memory when I looked this up on Wikipedia one time out of curiosity. And yeah I do think the 17 year old needs a charge. Unless he's intellectually handicapped or something. |
