LED lights for bedroom ALL SYNCED - Aqzxk - Nov 26, 2021

Hey every, for my room I’m wanting to add some LED lights. I built my desk, bed frame, and I mounted my tv and that’s where I want to put my lights. I want them all synced together and then for the tv back light I want it to sync with the colors on the tv display. I would like them all to hook up to one remote or my phone.

Phillips hue is about to be purchased, I’m just wondering if anyone has gotten away with using other options.

Edit #1. I did a tiny bit of research on YouTube and actually everything I checked out, were mentioned in this thread. Govee, Phillips Hue, and Wiz.

This is basically my takeaway for all three.

Wiz- great app, poor dimming, not bad. No tv backlight option. Probably won’t go with this but it seems like a great, cheap alternative if you’re on a budget. This is what I would go with however I’m willing to spend a little more, if it yields a little more tiny, nit picky details!

Govee- about 1/3rd the price of Phillips hue. Not better off than Phillips but not worse. Govee has an easy app for setup as well as customizations. You need at least a 55’ tv because that’s just how it is right now. Great alternative, from what I gather. (To Phillips)

Phillips is basically what you all are looking for but it’s $230 for the sync box. I couldn’t find a single Black Friday deal for one. It’s very pricey. However it seems to have the top notch lighting scheme down and I think they pretty much have a monopoly on it for customizable, LED, WiFi lighting.

I am going to do more research on govee, and Phillips. I will update this thread once I have a decision and then once more when I have it all installed.

Edit #2. Phillips Phillips Phillips! Everyone is comparing and contrasting Phillips to everything. ONE IMPORTANT THING I NOTICED IS THAT IF ITS AN HDMI BOX. YOU CANNOT HAVE BACKGROUND LIGHTING IN SYNC IF YOU USE SMARTCAST. So if you’re watching the tv through any hdmi device, it will work fine as intended. But if you’re like me and stream through your phone it won’t work! GAME CHANGER!!!!

Sorry I can't help but I'm looking for something similar myself. Only to surround my bedroom though.

I’ve done that before. All you’ll need is to measure roughly all four sides of your room and just make sure you buy one that is WiFi enabled. I just went on Amazon and they worked with my
Google home

Govee Glide RGBIC Smart Wall Light look sweet but would probably end up costing more. https://us.govee.com/

Following this thread. I'd love to get something similar but never bothered looking into it that much.

Dude check out home assistant, im pretty sure you can acomplish the same results with 60% of your budget with other lights, plus you control almost everything with one app or even your pc (using a browser).

I got broadlink remote control, xbox one, apple tv, google home, my raspberry, my pc, my laptop, sonoff lights, my tvs, my bose sound system, my optoma proyector and a robot vacuum, ALL on the home assistant app.

Hue is way too overpriced and also requires a hub. Check out Wiz by Philips . They are only sold in home depot i believe and have all the same features. They have light strips, motion sensors, remotes and different bulb sizes. Main difference is hue has a fancier app with preset scenes. I'm running hue in my living room and wiz in my bedroom and game room. It gets pricey when you start spreading out!

Automations and configuring have identical functions. As stated before, the UI and customizing scenes is where they are different.
