Hey every, for my room I’m wanting to add some LED lights. I built my desk, bed frame, and I mounted my tv and that’s where I want to put my lights. I want them all synced together and then for the tv back light I want it to sync with the colors on the tv display. I would like them all to hook up to one remote or my phone.
Phillips hue is about to be purchased, I’m just wondering if anyone has gotten away with using other options.
Edit #1. I did a tiny bit of research on YouTube and actually everything I checked out, were mentioned in this thread. Govee, Phillips Hue, and Wiz.
This is basically my takeaway for all three.
Wiz- great app, poor dimming, not bad. No tv backlight option. Probably won’t go with this but it seems like a great, cheap alternative if you’re on a budget. This is what I would go with however I’m willing to spend a little more, if it yields a little more tiny, nit picky details!
Govee- about 1/3rd the price of Phillips hue. Not better off than Phillips but not worse. Govee has an easy app for setup as well as customizations. You need at least a 55’ tv because that’s just how it is right now. Great alternative, from what I gather. (To Phillips)
Phillips is basically what you all are looking for but it’s $230 for the sync box. I couldn’t find a single Black Friday deal for one. It’s very pricey. However it seems to have the top notch lighting scheme down and I think they pretty much have a monopoly on it for customizable, LED, WiFi lighting.
I am going to do more research on govee, and Phillips. I will update this thread once I have a decision and then once more when I have it all installed.
Edit #2. Phillips Phillips Phillips! Everyone is comparing and contrasting Phillips to everything. ONE IMPORTANT THING I NOTICED IS THAT IF ITS AN HDMI BOX. YOU CANNOT HAVE BACKGROUND LIGHTING IN SYNC IF YOU USE SMARTCAST. So if you’re watching the tv through any hdmi device, it will work fine as intended. But if you’re like me and stream through your phone it won’t work! GAME CHANGER!!!!
