When stars venture too close to black holes they get violently ripped apart. After a 2019 transient event was observed, a neutrino was detected at the Antarctic neutrino detection facility named IceCube. Scientists are still not exactly sure if the events are related, however, the current hypothesis is that particle jets could accelerate protons, and interaction with surrounding radiation may create extremely fast neutrinos. One of the co-authors of the research paper says that more data is needed to properly correlate the events, yet the correlation between the two events occurring at the same time is about 0.034 percent. As more data is gathered in the future, scientists may finally link the source of neutrino emissions. >>Source Temperatures Colder Than Space Recorded on Earth for First Time Upgrades at the U.S. Department of Energy's SLAC Laboratory have allowed the Linac Coherent Light Source to be cooled down to temperatures which are colder than most of the universe. Scientists were able to chill liquid helium down to minus 456 degrees Fahrenheit (-271 Celsius, 2 kelvins), which is 2 kelvins above absolute zero, the temperature in which all particle movement seizes. Scientists are looking forward to these improved temperatures since it will allow them to boost electrons with about zero energy loss. LCLS-II will now begin accelerating electrons at 1 million pulses a second, a world record. Not only is the LCLS-II now able to further the understanding of molecular systems but the machine itself is now a scientific curiosity since at this temperature helium turns into helium II which is classified as a superfluid. Eric fauve one of the cryogenic directors says that helium II becomes a better conductor than copper and has such a low viscosity that it cannot be measured. >>Source Top 100,000 Websites Collect Keystrokes of Forms Researchers investigated top 100,000 websites looking for the behavior when text is typed into the website. They uncovered 1,844 websites from an EU user collecting the entered but unconsented email address, and 2,950 US-based user email address. Researchers learned that majority of the websites don't collect such information directly but third-party marketing and analytics services. Email addresses aren't as private nowadays but the scariest part is that the researchers uncovered 52 websites where a third party service collected passwords prior to submission. Additionally, researchers discovered Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel have been collected hashed email addresses as they're entered, not submitted, to track users. The group of researchers reached out to the top 33 websites reporting the issue of data exfiltration and did not get a response back. If you're interested in reading the full paper, here's the direct link. According to the paper the researchers published, the following websites leaked/collected email and passwords: Email Addresses
Database Admin Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison Meet Han Bing, a 40 year old Database Administrator working for Lianjia, Chinese real estate giant. After multiple arguments, proposals and raising concerns regarding poor security, Han Bing got tired of waiting around. To prove a point, Han Bing used his root access to delete all the data stored on critical servers. This occurred back in June 2018 but was just recently sentenced to seven years in prison. Investigators reviewed access logs and events of internal IPs and MAC addresses to trace the source. With a cumulation of logs and CCTV footage, the investigators were able to narrow in on Han Bing. Lianjia contracted forensic experts to look into the matter and discovered Han Bing used "rm" and "shred" commands to wipe the servers clean. "shred" is a very destructive command that wipes data and writes over it three times with random data. The damage done had costed the real estate giant tons of thousands of dollars. Restoration of data costed $30,000 but that was nothing compared to the effects that spiraled across the company. Employees were unable to be paid, and large sectors of operation had seized immediately after the deletion. For context, Lianjia has a market value estimated at $6 billion with 51 subsidiaries across 51 countries and over 120,000 brokers - according to records from 2013. >>Source FBI Warns Hackers Using Malicious PHP Code to Steal Credit Cards FBI published an alert stating "As of January 2022, unidentified cyber actors unlawfully scraped credit card data from a US business by injecting malicious [PHP] code into the business' online checkout page and sending the scraped data to an actor-controlled server that spoofed a legitimate card processing server." PHP code was injected through webshell backdoors through debugging functions. The actors have yet to be identified by have attacked two U.S. companies and modifying the checkout pages. Although this is a new tactic, using malicious code to skim credit card data is not a new threat. One example, Malwarebytes Threat Intelligence had reported back in 2020 that a wine store had been injected with credit card skimming code. >>Source Discord Webhooks Used in Password Harvesting Malware Probably the most relatable article for the majority of us on Hack Forums! On April 23rd, a Discord user, Portu, started to advertise a password harvesting malware builder. A few days later, KurayStealer was born thanks to Portu's malware builder. KurayStealer comes in a free and paid version, and takes advantage of Discord Webhooks to silently collect and extract credentials. KurayStealer can harvest passwords, tokens, IPs and more from Discord, Edge, Chrome, Opera, Sputnik, Vivaldi, Brave, Iridium, Yandex and a few more totaling to 21 applications. Pro (paid) version runs for $8, $20, $32 and $65 for a week, month, 3 months, and lifetime access, respectively. The malware was written in Python and captures screenshots and geolocation data of the infected machine. >>Source Screenshots (Click to View) Riot Games has filed a lawsuit against Moonton, the developer of Mobile Legends Bang Bang. Riot Games, the owner of League of Legends and Wild Rift, is suing Moonton, the owner of Mobile Legends. Riot claims that there is a list of champions and splash arts that are blatantly ripped off and used in mobile legends; Moonton has done this numerous times in the past. Even community members have discovered Moonton's blatant copying, referring to it as a "copy cat" and a "shameless ripoff." Riot stated that they had previously found Moonton's copying tactics and filed legal action. Riot Games has created a document that details what was copied from League of Legends and Wild Rift to Mobile Legends, and we'll dissect their claims. Riot Games' claims include comparing the games and claiming that Moonton copied promotional materials from trailers and even used music created by Riot Games. Mobile legends have also been stealing splash art concepts and champions concepts. For example, the champion Zac resembles Gloo from Mobile Legends. The skins between Braum and Baxia appear to be very similar as well. Here is an example of the similarities between Mafia Braum and the skin for Baxia, which is another of Riot Games' claims against them. >>Source ![]() Zenless Zone Zero is now available in open beta Zenless Zone Zero is an action-RPG game created by the creators of Genshin Impact. Brandon was found to have violated the Fortnite terms of service and infringed on copyright by the court. Brandon was selling Fortnite cheats as well as hacked Fortnite accounts. He even openly admitted to it and issued a public statement, saying, "Hey everyone, this is BlazeFN. I used to sell unauthorized Fortnite cheats and compromised Fortnite player accounts. I'm not going to do it anymore because Epic Games caught me and filed legal action against me in Australia." "Selling compromised player accounts and cheat technologies puts people's information at risk and ruins the experience for people who are playing fairly," Epic Games said. We take the illegal sale of these items very seriously, and we will pursue any options to ensure that our games remain fun, fair, and never pay-to-win."
