Technically nothing stops Hydra or anyone else from making new editions. There is just no longer an official group with a subforum. RE: Writ3rs // E.532 - Hydra - Oct 21, 2022 Well... can't say I was surprised but also wasn't expecting it at this time. We survived several near-deletions over the years but this one seems to be permanent. I'd like to thank everyone who volunteered their time and efforts to curating our editions. Everyone who read our editions, helped with Weekly Reports and everything between. Everyone's support with Writ3rs and HF News is what kept the legacy going for all these years. Hack Forums News Team dates back to 2010. That's 12 years of dedication from the community and the longest community project we've had. We evolved from basic colored text with little formatting to subtle color coded section banners and formatting. Introduced more and more sections over the years: interviews, group news, site statistics. Expanded further by adding another two posts containing gaming, tech, world, science, comics, battlestations and more. On and off we hosted podcasts and for a short period was doing well. I've been the leader of Writ3rs/HF News Team since March 2015. Throughout the time, we had our ups and downs, attempted takeovers and shitty leadership on my part. Endured through it all, we continued to curate editions with what we had. Honestly, the leader of Writ3rs never meant much to the production of the editions. It was the actual Writ3rs who put in the hard work. All I did was copy/paste sections into a single thread and add/kick members. Introduced author names with hyperlinks to give more exposure (I'll admit, I hated it when people thanked me, go thank the Writ3rs!). I wanted to make my team's work experience easier and improve "quality of life". We started with userscripts and Google Sheets/Forms, then evolved to an entire website platform, XGEN. My entire purpose was to provide to the team so they can continue their work for the community. Let's take a look at the secret sauces... Meet Spreadsheets (Click to View) Meet XGEN (Click to View) Still under heavy and active development, XGEN was brought to life January 2021. I wanted to provide the proper tools for the team to be able to curate their sections efficiently with all the possible resources at their disposal. Features consisted of integrated and dynamic templates, BB Editor, HF API to archive submissions to our subforum, award log, ban log, and user stat log. I was working on implementing a notifications and warning system along with a feature to proofread and collaborate on sections. That's been the evolution of HF News and Writ3rs in the last seven years and it's been fuckin' real to say the least. Met some great people and met some complete assholes. Have had day ones who kept the grind for years. Have had members who just started but put in so much effort to get quality editions out. Really thankful to everyone's help with this. Even those who were a Writ3r for a short period of time; like I always told the team, life comes first. With that said, not sure what the future looks like but we'll make the best of it - count on that. Shoutout to all the Writ3rs in the last 7 years (at least those I have records of) (Click to View) With love, Hydra RE: Writ3rs // E.532 - Lavish Living - Oct 21, 2022 (Oct 21, 2022 06:04 PM)Hydra Wrote: Well... can't say I was surprised but also wasn't expecting it at this time.
