How do I trace a 4chan post back to the original poster - Th3Rooster - Aug 27, 2023
I have been unable to find much resource wise or any case studies so I am at a loss. I have enumerated the possible actors so I assume an IP address would lead me to one of them but I am kind of stuck on what to do. I am a mid-level beginner in Bug Bounty research I have just never had to trace a web post to the origin, on a website that encourages anonymity (which I fully support, but I need to break it this time). Any suggestions or just pointing me to POCs or case studies. I do not mind doing the research.

Unless you hack 4chan o their posts reveal info you can further leverage into deanonymizing them you won't be able to do it.

I would post an image link to IPLogger and get the user to reply to the thread. What gets me is people are like "I need to get this person's IP address, and then I'll know who they are."

No I know the IP address isn't the golden ticket but I could at least get a geolocation I believe which would assist with shortening the sus peeps list. I appreciate the reply though. At least gives me something to research more.

I used to work in this industry for 2 years, clean info means no circimstancial evidence, if you can leverage what they posted into undeniably proving what you aimed at, there sholdn't be any issues, but it's less than likely.
