I have been unable to find much resource wise or any case studies so I am at a loss. I have enumerated the possible actors so I assume an IP address would lead me to one of them but I am kind of stuck on what to do. I am a mid-level beginner in Bug Bounty research I have just never had to trace a web post to the origin, on a website that encourages anonymity (which I fully support, but I need to break it this time). Any suggestions or just pointing me to POCs or case studies. I do not mind doing the research.
How do I trace a 4chan post back to the original poster |

What gets me is people are like "I need to get this person's IP address, and then I'll know who they are." No I know the IP address isn't the golden ticket but I could at least get a geolocation I believe which would assist with shortening the sus peeps list. I appreciate the reply though. At least gives me something to research more. That is what I was thinking but not sure if the scope will allow it as the intel needs to be "clean" for investigative purposes. Thank you for the info!! I used to work in this industry for 2 years, clean info means no circimstancial evidence, if you can leverage what they posted into undeniably proving what you aimed at, there sholdn't be any issues, but it's less than likely. |
