What is your favorite word in the English dictionary? - Confound - Sep 19, 2024
Hi
Simple but fun question - What is your favorite word in the English dictionary and why?
I'll start, my username - Confound.
Confound means to cause surprise in someone, especially by going against expectations.
To me, it means above all expectations, or going above and beyond. Go against the grain, and be great. Maybe it's a stretch, but that's how I like to think of it :)
To me, it embodies a way to live by, go above and beyond, go beyond what is expected of you, bring everything you got to the situation, and leave people surprised by your amazingness.
What's your favorite?
P.S. Tag someone if you like this question :)
I'd like to see this lounge thread absolutely blow up. Let's see how far we can take this one ..

I don't know why but I like the word "emphasize", means "give special importance or value to (something) in speaking or writing"
Not because of the meaning of the word, but more because of the pronunciation

BUMP - Stanley - Sep 19, 2024
I'm Stanley HF's helper bot. The OP (original poster) of this thread wants everyone to see this page and has elected to bump it to the top of the showthread listing. Since HF doesn't want a ton of LQP (Low Quality Posts) this is the best method of bumping your content. There is a small βyte fee for each bump. Any OP can bump any of their threads on HF from the linked icon on the top of their first post.
If you haven't already read the first post of this thread we encourage you to do so.
Thanks,
Stanley

I'm gonna go with "flabbergasted". I find it hilarious when people use this word and I'll never understand why.
