More visibility in knowing whos new - DashPHP - Nov 1, 2024

“This member has only recently upgraded, deal with upmost caution and consider a middleman”

That will help for sure.

I branched my response from a deal dispute where a new member purchased L33T and exited 50$.

When people are buying, it’s often filled with urgency from the excitement of buying something, which usually makes them not do their checks properly. We should totally cater to these people because it’s unfortunately a very common occurrence.

My suggestion?

On any page where a new L33T is on (such as their marketplace threads, a private message, convo dm) should be a permanent banner that lasts until a condition is met such as age, post requirement and so on.

The message in the banner should include something along the lines of:

“This member has only recently upgraded, deal with upmost caution and consider a middleman”.

I really believe this will help. Would love your opinion on this matter too! Thanks.

or just a badge on people's postbit saying NEW or NEW MEMBER that should be enough

I think a banner is more significant, a badge could be overlooked, but it can work if the badge is visible enough.

I do like that actually. But “new” isn’t really the same as “be careful it’s a new member” if you get what I mean.

The badges could look over saturated if the page is large, where a simple banner with the relevant info should be good.

This banner should be visible on multiple pages, not just marketplace.

If they are not looking at B ratings they are not going to take notice of a warning.

I disagree. The warning is intrusive. B-rating is an option to click to find out more. B-ratings initially are confusing to new customers.

Didn't join date use to be in the postbit? Just remove game XP and add join date back. No one plays the Hack Game anyway.

Was thinking about the same. The join date is good insight to have without having to go to the users profile.

This works. Maybe highlight the join date by bolding if registered within x days/weeks.

I actually do think a banner would be good for this, idk if it should stick out that much, but would be nice. Or return join date to the postbit. Either one really works.

It used to be yeah.

I believe Xerotic was the one who changed it to where you have to hover over avatars to see it on posts now.

And when old member scam what will be the use of this ? For me "New" word will mean the reply or post is new , if u wanna new members not trade just make it locked till 1 month for example , although i dont find this accurate measure

RE: More visibility in knowing whos new - F4tDoinkz - Nov 1, 2024

Members of all account age exit scam. To me personally new accounts are very obvious, regardless of their upgrade status. Even staff can scam and I have seen it. Not here while I been here but on other sites. But I don't disagree. A banner may be a bit too much though.

Its about reducing the scam, not stopping. More L33Ts scamming than Ub3rs...
