Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World (MTV Unplugged) - Rsynced - Oct 26, 2025 Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World (MTV Unplugged) - It's NOT UNPLUGGED IMHO RE: Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World (MTV Unplugged) - StinkButt420 - Oct 26, 2025 (Oct 26, 2025 03:14 AM)Rsynced Wrote: Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World (MTV Unplugged) Honestly, this cover was the weaker one out of the ones they did. They had the meat puppets up and did two or three of their songs, and the "cover" they did of them was better than the originals. "Oh me" is tied with "Plateau". I can't decide which one is better for sure, but I'm definitely leaning toward Oh Me. Nirvana kind of did something weird, they did lots of covers, when most bands at the time (not that I was there) did mostly their own material. That whole unplugged set was kind of a miracle since Kurt was coming down off a heroin high. EDIT, It's not really unplugged at all, considering the obvious use of distortion on kurts guitar and the mics, it could just be prerecorded. you would never know... He's using an electro acoustic. It uses the same idea of an electric guitar, but on an acoustic instead. Chorus? Yeah. He used it for CAYA. And distortion on the mics is also just plainly false. I'm not sure if it's because you don't know what you're talking about, or it's because you just didn't hear the unplugged set that I heard. I think for anyone in a band using bass, they're at the least going to need to be plugged in. Them if anyone. And I doubt completely it was pre-recorded since MTV has published a few clips from the rehearsal they did before the actual show. That are (mostly) unedited. There's no reason for them to fake it. It'd be harder to fake than it would be to just... play... Keep in mind, Nirvana was a touring act (and practiced 5 days a week a lot of their career) for 6 years at that point. And Pat Smear (the guitarist behind Kurt) even longer than that. RE: Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World (MTV Unplugged) - JoshAllen - Oct 27, 2025 So crazy how Nirvana were told to play their more popular song, and they refused and played songs not as many people knew. Today, many of those "unknown" songs are peoples favorite because of this performance. I remember Kurt being on stage scoffing at the suggestion of "In Bloom". I think it would have worked. What's crazier is that Heart Shaped Box didn't make it. I think that it totally could have made it despite it being a hit. RE: Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World (MTV Unplugged) - Pimping - Oct 27, 2025 Such a classic one of my favorite nirvana songs lithium is a great song too. I wish there were more grunge artists in the current times RE: Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World (MTV Unplugged) - Rsynced - Oct 28, 2025 (Oct 26, 2025 05:07 PM)StinkButt420 Wrote: His guitar isn't distorted. DUDE IT IT PLUGGED INTO ELECRTIC OUTLETS / AMPS, THE MICS, THE FX BOARDS, THE MIXING BOARDS /CONSOLES ETC. WHY DOES EVERYONE HAVE TO ARGUE WITH RATIONAL THOUGHT? IDK AT THIS POINTđ¤Śââď¸ you could say it's technically NOT UNPLUGGED YOU MOTHERFUCKERS YOU CANT JUST CHANGE THE DEFINITION OF THE WORD AS YOU SEE FIT IT IS LITERLALY PLUGGINED IN AND ILL HAVE YOU KNOW THAT I KNOW WHAT PLUGS ARE, I KNOW THE CHORDS AND I KNOW THE CABLES TOO, DONâT YOU DARE LECTURE ME ABOUT CABLES. YOU THINK I DONâT KNOW WHAT A JACK INPUT IS? IâVE BEEN STARING AT THESE RACKS SINCE BEFORE YOU KNEW HOW TO SPELL âAUDIO.â ITâS PLUGGED IN, THEREâS ELECTRICITY FLOWING, THERE ARE SIGNALS RUNNING, THERE ARE LIGHTS FLASHINGâTHATâS THE VERY OPPOSITE OF UNPLUGGED, YOU BRAIN-DEAD DEFINITION-BENDERS. YOU CANâT JUST DECIDE WORDS MEAN WHATEVER YOU WANT BECAUSE YOU HEARD SOMEONE SAY âUNPLUGGED SESSIONâ ON MTV BACK IN 1997. IF THEREâS A POWER CABLE, ITâS PLUGGED. IF THEREâS A SIGNAL FLOW, ITâS PLUGGED. IF I CAN TRACE A WIRE FROM THE AMP TO THE OUTLET, CONGRATULATIONS, THATâS PLUGGED. STOP GASLIGHTING THE LAWS OF ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVITY, YOU SONIC IMBECILES. YOU THINK I DONâT UNDERSTAND HOW ELECTRICITY WORKS? IâVE SPENT MORE HOURS WRANGLING CABLES THAN YOUâVE SPENT FORMING COHERENT THOUGHTS. I KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A LINE-IN AND A LINE-OUT, I CAN HEAR A GROUND LOOP BUZZ FROM ACROSS THE ROOM, AND I CAN TELL WHEN SOMEONE DOESNâT KNOW THEIR LEFT CHANNEL FROM THEIR RIGHT. YOU WANNA CALL IT âUNPLUGGEDâ? THEN YANK EVERY CORD OUT OF THAT WALL, LETâS SEE HOW LONG YOUR PRECIOUS âLIVE SESSIONâ LASTS WHEN THE ONLY SOUND IS THE DESPERATE CLACKING OF YOUR ACOUSTIC STRINGS AND YOUR FRAGILE EGO COLLAPSING UNDER THE WEIGHT OF YOUR OWN IGNORANCE. DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND THE LEVEL OF INSANITY IT TAKES TO REDEFINE THE LAWS OF PHYSICS BECAUSE YOU HEARD SOME HIPSTER SAY IT ON A DOCUMENTARY? THE TERM UNPLUGGED IS SUPPOSED TO MEAN RAW, ACOUSTIC, UNAMPLIFIEDâNOT âSTILL USING POWER BUT WEâRE FEELING VINTAGE ABOUT IT.â YOUâRE OUT HERE RUNNING MICROPHONES THROUGH PREAMPS, RUNNING SIGNAL CHAINS LONGER THAN A NASA CHECKLIST, AND YOU STILL HAVE THE AUDACITY TO SAY ITâS UNPLUGGED? THATâS LIKE CALLING A NUCLEAR REACTOR âCANDLELIT.â AND LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING ELSEâTHE MOMENT YOU CONNECT A SINGLE Âź-INCH JACK OR RUN A DI BOX INTO A BOARD, YOUâVE CROSSED THE LINE FROM UNPLUGGED TO FULLY PLUGGED-IN INDUSTRIAL MADNESS. YOUâRE NOT PLAYING âFOLK,â YOUâRE PLAYING ELECTRONICALLY-ENHANCED DELUSION. IF ITâS GOT A CABLE, ITâS PLUGGED. IF ITâS GOT POWER, ITâS PLUGGED. IF THEREâS ANYTHING BETWEEN YOU AND AIR MOLECULES VIBRATING NATURALLY, ITâS PLUGGED. YOU CANâT JUST âFEEL UNPLUGGEDâ ANY MORE THAN YOU CAN âFEEL OXYGEN OPTIONAL USE" YOU HEAR ME?!?! SO PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS AUDIBLY PURE, STOP TRYING TO REWRITE REALITY. WORDS MEAN THINGS. YOU CANâT JUST PULL âUNPLUGGEDâ OUT OF YOUR THESAURUS AND SLAP IT ON A FULLY-ELECTRIFIED CONCERT SETUP BECAUSE YOU THINK IT SOUNDS COOL. ITâS A LIE, A DELUSION, A MOCKERY OF EVERYTHING THAT STANDS BETWEEN US AND THE ENTROPIC WHIRLPOOL OF MEANINGLESS LANGUAGE. IF ITâS PLUGGED IN, ITâS PLUGGED INâAND NO AMOUNT OF SEMANTIC GYMNASTICS OR âVIBEâ WILL EVER CHANGE THAT, YOU ELECTRICALLY-INCOHERENT BUFFOONS. my chatgpt copypasta jailbreak: https://chatgpt.com/share/69026609-82c4-8004-8d9f-9a3c280fad67 RE: Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World (MTV Unplugged) - StinkButt420 - Oct 29, 2025 (Oct 28, 2025 07:18 PM)Rsynced Wrote: DUDE IT IT PLUGGED INTO ELECRTIC OUTLETS / AMPS, THE MICS, THE FX BOARDS, THE MIXING BOARDS /CONSOLES ETC. WHY DOES EVERYONE HAVE TO ARGUE WITH RATIONAL THOUGHT? IDK AT THIS POINTđ¤Śââď¸ So, are you an actual musician/engineer, or... ??? The point of MTV Unplugged isn't to be 100% factually by definition completely "unplugged". Then there'd be no cameras, no monitors, terrible drum sound (because you need to mic those too). This is what the wikipedia says: Quote:"The term "unplugged" has come to refer to music that would usually be played on electrified instruments (such as an electric guitar or synthesizer) but is rendered instead on instruments that can be played without electricity, for example acoustic guitar or traditional piano, although a microphone is still used. In most cases, the bass (or bass guitar) is amplified, and a Hammond organ is sometimes used." Try singing with only an acoustic in a room of 100 people, all surrounding you. The people in the back aren't going to hear you NEARLY as well. Unplugged is more than an episodic music show, it's an actual show. A concert. It's that first, and it was an episode of unplugged second. They're not sitting there in an empty room with applause on cue, performing just to cameras. There's actual people there. I have NO problem with you wanting to sit in the end zone of a football field, and wanting to listen to someone jam on an acoustic while they're in the other end zone, I just have no idea what credentials you're trying to justify it with. As long as it's TRULY "unplugged" right? No. Absolutely not. The guy all-capping is an idiot on top of it, I'm not gonna quote the whole thing because it'll look like trash, but the point I have above this paragraph goes to him as well. And his crash out is absolutely why no roadie/tour manager will know his name if you ask them. He "knows what cables are", and he's been "staring at these racks" since before I could "spell audio", but he's still not smart enough to remember it was a real concert on top of being filmed.
