Microsoft and Asus announcement at Gamescom:

Microsoft made a significant announcement at Gamescom. In partnership with Asus, two new officially licensed Xbox handhelds! The ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally, were unveiled. These devices will feature a customized version of Windows 11 with a console-like user interface and are set for a release on October 16, 2025.

Valve’s “Fremont” console:

Introducing.. A new SteamOS device from Valve. A console designed to connect to TV sets and running AMD CPU and GPU hardware. Spotted in Geekbench running Windows 11, using AMD’s Zen 4 Phoenix APU plus discrete RX 7600 GPU that is still in development.


Nvidia GeForce Now upgrades:
Nvidia GeForce Now RTX 5080 tier – $19.99/mo cloud service delivering 5K at 120 FPS, low latency (~17 ms), and Steam Deck-level support; poses a serious challenge to traditional consoles

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 release date:

Treyarch and Raven Software revealed new details about the campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies modes for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Set to release on November 14, 2025.

Xbox PC App will soon get a Major Quality-of-Life update

Xbox has revealed that it is testing a feature on its PC app that allows users to access third-party launchers, such as Battle.net and GOG Galaxy, directly from Microsoft's own app on supported Windows 11 devices. Xbox stated that the feature is now available for Xbox Insiders enrolled in the PC Gaming Preview program to test and provide feedback.

Hollow Knight: Silksong expected release:

Gamescom in Cologne, Germany delivered a wave of exciting announcements. The most significant reveal for many was the awaited release date for Hollow Knight: Silksong, which is now confirmed to launch on September 4, 2025.

Assassin's Creed Mirage getting story DLC 2 years after launch, for free:

Nearly two years following its original release, the game is now confirmed to be receiving story DLC after all, with Ubisoft announcing as much on August 23. While the official name of the expansion has yet to be disclosed, the developer revealed that the upcoming content drop will include a new story chapter and missions set in 9th-century al-Ula, an ancient Arabian oasis city.
