Might want to make Mentor reported post go to the top of the queue for staff becuase a "unapproved" post can annoy people. (Not quite sure what you ment i just pictured posts gets temp edited to "unapproved")

That's a great Idea would be Ok if I make a userbar for the group ? Don't have to use just want to see if you would like it.

Well I love your User bar:

I just want to post mine when I make it later.

Seems a nice idea, I support it. :)

I personally don't like the idea, I do think that your current staff team are mature enough to know whats good and bad for HF.

* - .Zo - May 6, 2010

I believe this is a good idea as the staff cannot be everywhere at once and I believe they could use some help.

We don't have enough staff. This isn't an issue about current staff. It's an issue of how to get proper information into circulation on the site without adding burden to the site. It's about informing members with proper info.

I don't think you should bother. It's a less than 1% chance I would use it.

Unapproved means a thread is removed from viewing except by staff.

Reports don't really work like that. If a staff member is on..any queue is emptied within minutes. Something being on the top or bottom only makes it a few minutes between actions. Because we are understaffed though there are buildups of reports and larger gaps when staff are actually online.

This imho would cut down on the spam and repeated posts in that area. The group would have it's own usergroup image but the color would be same as ub3r as part of requirements would be that you have to be in the ub3r group to apply. An award for Mentor would also be given.

The idea is that these would people would help support staff but not be on staff. Might even be a good pathway to joining staff. Most of the problems with selecting potential staff members is finding out who actually understands policies and rules.

Any opinions on this idea?

I'd be interested in it for sure. If you need any help with it, let me know.

This is a good idea, its almost taking place of a moderator as I know how you dont like moderators.

* - HappyMans - May 6, 2010

That sounds really cool I feel like if this is implemented, there should be a rule that noone in that user-group can act all high and mighty.

Well, it's not directly helping staff, but wouldn't it be nice to have your own little group helping to warn people, and enforce the rules?

Also, Omniscient, a few questions.

1. How would one go about applying for this group? Would it be like a normal application (like other user groups.)
2. Would there be any requirements to be in mentors?
3. When bearing the user group bar, would there be any customizations, such as different stars, or your name staying blue? (Like reviewers)

Also, I would suggest this group be ub3r only.

* - cybr - May 6, 2010

I would love to see this happen. It would help a lot, too. To see more helpful people would be great, and maybe one day when I'm Ub3r, I'll be able to apply.

Go for it, Omniscient.

* - Taserz - May 6, 2010

Omni then you should make certain reports that Mentors do trigger "Unapproved"

For example phishing bank crap like that will trigger "unapproved"
While reporting wrong forum will just be like a normal report since it will still allow other to read.

dartz most likely
1. Applying like people did for Reviewers
2. Most Likely
3. Probably keep color since only uber.

but up to omni just what i think answer will be

* - Omniscient - May 6, 2010

That's possible too Tazer and likely how I would do it. This is why canned reports are helpful imho. I can setup conditional if statements easily and hook into reports.

* - DAV3 - May 6, 2010

Omni, thats probably one of your best ideas yet (thats saying a lot)

* - Taserz - May 6, 2010

XD You said Tazer which is close to Taser.

Want me to pick which canned reports go to "Unapproved" for you since im kinda bored and just finished a lab report and are done with cad for the day.
