Building a crypter in c# or vb? - dipshit #1252 - Sep 29, 2012

What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? I'm not looking on how to code a crypter. I just want to know in which language would it suit what im looking for. I know in VB its easy and whatnot but i heard in c# its more flexible.

No advantage / disadvantages.

They both can do the same, I just prefer C# because I think it's easier to read and the syntax makes more sense.

Depends from person to person.

Only the syntax is different that's why I prefer c#

Incorrect, with C# you can use unsafe code which may be useful in creating a crypter depending on what settings you want.

While VB can't work with unsafe code (Pointers etc.) then it's still possible to basically do the same things with classes already available.

If you want unsafe code, just use C.

Obviously C would be better for crypters due to no dependencies.

It does not really make a difference due they both get compiled to IL Code, so they can achive the same. If you still want rely on .NET use C++/CLR.
Or just use a real strong language like C/++

Both get compiled to IL code in a similar fashion. Apart from the syntax, you can do the same with both languages.
(Some things are easier in VB, others in C#; but they can all be done in both languages.)

I prefere C# because of the syntax, but there's nothing wrong with VB.

^ This.

& It helps because the syntax is clean and simple to follow when your project are a lot larger.

I absolutely agree with both, C# is more pleasing to me as well.

Why use a language that needs dependencies (VB6, .NET etc) for building Crypters? seems a waste of time.

Maybe he just wants to build a crypter for himself and doesn't plan on selling it or distributing it. Looking around the forums, the majority of people make their crypters in either c# or VB. That must mean it's pretty easy and not that time consuming to code it in those languages. I'm pretty sure it would be more difficult to write a crypter in C++ than c# or VB. Not to mention the extensive library of information (MSDN). It's all in one place and more convenient as opposed to searching the internet for information.

Considering the fact that most people have .NET installed, it isn't that big of a deal.

That is not the point if you are coding malware you should not really being using .net unless it is a tool made to look legit I.E a rouge anti-virus.
