Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma - DerMensch24 - May 9, 2016 Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma ![]() Synopsis: Quote:Ever since he was a child, fifteen-year-old Souma Yukihira has helped his father by working as the sous chef in the restaurant his father runs and owns. Throughout the years, Souma developed a passion for entertaining his customers with his creative, skilled, and daring culinary creations. His dream is to someday own his family's restaurant as its head chef. While somewhat of an ecchi, it's very comical, and its ecchi side adds to this comedic effect (however there are times where it seems a tad excessive). The overall character development and story are done decently. Also, if you are a fan of cooking then you'll find this equally enjoyable ;) * - Niche - May 9, 2016 Just because I like plugging these guys * - Zexo - May 9, 2016 I really liked this anime because I like cooking. * - neiqhtworks - May 10, 2016 Food wars was a complete and utter disaster for anime in the western world, it has the possibility to bring anime to western culture in a fashion never seen before but it stabbed itself in the neck. https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=4998465 * - 4ngelic - May 10, 2016 Really liked the first season, looking forward to the next one. * - Ympker - May 10, 2016 Great anime! Waiting for the next season :) * - DerMensch24 - May 10, 2016 (May 10, 2016 01:23 AM)neiqhtworks Wrote: Food wars was a complete and utter disaster for anime in the western world, it has the possibility to bring anime to western culture in a fashion never seen before but it stabbed itself in the neck. I agree that the Ecchi within the anime has at times degraded the meaning behind some aspects, however I believe that they use it for two effects. The first being an comedic/obvious effect, since the anime itself is listed as Shounen so it will set itself up to target that specific audience. However, I also believe that its used to describe the feeling and joy out of eating a really delicious meal which each person can only say occurs a few times in their life. That "ah, this is the best thing i've ever eaten and felt in my stomach" feeling you get from a good meal is being conveyed in this manner. So I do agree with you that its different and can be a bit over-the-top with it at times, but that using this method for the structure allows it to function with a unique spin. * - Ympker - May 11, 2016 (May 10, 2016 12:00 PM)DerMensch24 Wrote: I agree that the Ecchi within the anime has at times degraded the meaning behind some aspects, however I believe that they use it for two effects. Hater's gonna hate, ponies gonna pwn! Easy as that^^ * - Mickle33 - May 11, 2016 This is one of my favourite Anime since... ever ?! I mean cooking is one of my big Hobbies and watching Anime too so this was the perfect method for combining it :D * - Egregious - May 11, 2016 I thought I felt indifferent towards this anime after watching it, but looking back, it wasn't really bad at all. I look forward to watching season two. * - dannyoceanic - May 11, 2016 (May 11, 2016 12:46 PM)Egregious Wrote: I thought I felt indifferent towards this anime after watching it, but looking back, it wasn't really bad at all.
