"Flammable Ice" is a frozen mixture of water and gas. Officially known as methane clathrates or hydrates, they are formed at very low temperatures and under high pressure. Despite the low temperature however, these hydrates are flammable. The gas encapsulated in the ice catches fire easily, thus the title "fire ice" or "flammable ice". By lowering pressure or raising the temperature, the hydrates break down into water and methane. One cubic metre released about 160 cubic metres of gas, making it a highly energy intensive fuel. This is considered to be the key to future global energy supply, potentially a revolutionary energy source that could be essential to future energy needs. Chinese authorities have described this as a major breakthrough. Many countries including the US and Japan are working on how to tap those reserves, but the process of mining and extracting it is extremely difficult. It is likely the world's last great source of carbon-based fuel. >>Source Antiproton count hints at dark matter annihilation Two teams of researchers suggest that Antiprotons streaming down on Earth from space could be hinting at the existence of the invisible substance; dark matter. Cosmic rays are constantly whizzing through space. They include protons and their antimatter partners, antiprotons. While antiprotons are produced in run-of-the-mill processes like particle collisions, additional ones could theoritically be birthed when dark matter particles destroy one another. The two teams - one from Germany; the other from China and Taiwan - analyzed antiprotons detected by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer on the International Space Station. The calculations better matched the data when dark matter's contribution was included in the predictions of the numbers of antiprotons expected, thus indicating that some of the antiprotons may come from dark matter annihilation. AMS previously spotted another potential dark matter hint: an overabundance of positrons or antimatter electrons, however some physicists believe that it can be explained by more mundane sources, such as spinning stars called pulsars. >>Source ![]() Workout Suit for Athletes MIT researchers have composed a breathable exercise suit with ventilating folds that open and close in light of an athlete's body warmth and sweat. They then utilized a cell printing technique they had beforehand created to print E Coli onto sheets of rough, natural latex. "People may think heat and sweat are the same, but in fact, some areas like the lower spine produce lots of sweat but not much heat," said Lining Yao, a graduate student at MIT. >>Source Saying ‘OK Google’ is Awful Google chose not to give its wise aide a name like Siri or Alexa or Cortana or whatever. Rather, it's quite recently the Google Assistant. Rishi Chandra, VP for Google Home, is evident that Google isn't religious about failing to add another, and it is turning into input from individuals like me who wind up almost gulping their tongues when they attempt to state "Ok Google" for the fifth time in succession. However, he wouldn't like to roll out any rapid improvements without completely thoroughly considering those suggestions. >>Source Nvidia Is Off to the Autonomous Car Races Nvidia recently declared that Toyota would utilize its Drive PX AI car computer platform for cutting edge efficient vehicles slated for introduction over the next few years. The Drive PX stage, furnished with the cutting edge Xavier System on a Chip - a palm-sized artificial intelligence based supercomputer intended for use in self-ruling vehicles - conveys 30 trillion profound learning operations for every second. "Nvidia is combining breakthroughs in AI and high-performance computing to build Nvidia Drive PX, the brain of the autonomous car," said CEO Jensen Huang at Nvidia's GPU Technology Conference earlier this month. >>Source ![]() Rape Investigation Dropped Regarding Julian Assange Sweden has decided that it will drop the rape investigation regarding the WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Due to it being extremely difficult to serve him a notice, top prosecutor Marianne Ny said the arrest warrant was being revoked. Assange has been living in the Ecuadorian embassy in London since 2012. UK police say that if he was to leave the compound, they would be obliged to arrest him. Assange fears that extradition to Sweden would lead to extradition to the United States where he is wanted over leaks. Assange took to Twitter following the news: "Detained for 7 years without charge... while my children grew up and my name was slandered. I do not forgive or forget." Despite the dropping of the case, the plaintiff maintains her accusations against Assange. >>Source National Health Service in UK Affected by Cyber-Attack The NHS was recently the victim of a global ransomware attack. In response to the attack, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) says it is “working round the clock” to fix systems that were made inaccessible by the ransomware. The ransomware took a large toll on NHS systems: operations were canceled, patient documents were made inaccessible, and ambulances were diverted. The malware appeared to utilize technology that was stolen from the National Security Agency in the US. With this ransomware, all access to files was blocked until a ransom was paid. The software that exploited a vulnerability in the Windows software was called WanaCrpt0r 2.0 or WannaCry. Microsoft released a patch which fixed the issue in March, but computers that did not install the update remained vulnerable. >>Source State Department Working to Identify Bodyguards of Turkey’s President who Beat up Protesters in D.C. As a result of protesters being beat up outside the Turkish embassy in Washington, D.C. by President Erdogan’s bodyguards, the State Department is working with D.C. Police and the Secret Service to identify those particular bodyguards responsible for acts of violence. The violent confrontation earlier this week left at least nine protesters injured. The State Department is pursuing the assailants because their actions violate the first amendment of the United States which protects free speech. There is the possibility that the bodyguards will be protected due to diplomatic immunity, but the State Department still plans to pursue everything within its legal power as part of the investigation. Although punishment of peaceful protest is not allowed in the US, it is the norm in Turkey. Thousands of critics of the government within Turkey have been jailed or forced from their jobs. >>Source ![]() A New Life Is Strange Game Is on Its Way If you were a fan of the Life Is Strange game, then there is some good news coming to you now. The developers over at DONTNOD had created a very short YouTube video for all the support that the first game received. In addition to that, they've announced that they will be working on a second version of the game. Sadly there is not much known as the announcement did not go into too much detail but the reveal of this might bring some joy to some gamers. Last year DONTNOT spoke about a live-action version of the Life Is Strange game series. Will this augmented reality game come sooner than we expected? >>Source NES Classic Edition Outsold PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in April Believe it or not but the NES Classic Edition just passed the PlayStation 4 in the No. 1 best selling console in the United States. That is something you definitely do not hear every day. Heck, the NES Classic Edition is not as talked about as the popular console made by Sony. The NES Classic Edition comes close to its brother the Nintendo Switch where both of them stand King and Queen as the top two best selling consoles. The price of the NES Classic Edition is $60 and has 30 games built into the device. Throwback nostalgia for those who grew up with the original NES device. At the current time, it is super hard to find it in stock in any stores and it is likely that Nintendo will stop the production of it which will, of course, raise the price and rarity of it. >>Source Destiny 2 Will Release on PC Later Than on Consoles It is no surprise that Destiny 2 will be making its way to PC. That information has been out for quite some time but most recently was the release of information on when the PC version will be coming to stores near you. The console version of the game will be coming out way before the PC version. Those who have an Xbox or PlayStation device can pick up the game on September 8 of this year while the PC launch date has not been officially announced yet. Bungie says, "We're not committed to a PC date yet, but at Bungie we're totally committed to making a PC build as great as we can. Our partnership with Blizzard and being on Battle.net, we want to make sure that this version of the game has the time it needs to bake in the oven so it's a delicious piece of bread when it comes out." It is estimated that a few weeks after the console release, Bungie will try their best to provide a release date for PC gamers. Those wondering, "Will there be a Destiny 2 Beta?" Yes! There will! Players will get the chance to play it before launch, even those on PC. In order to gain access to the beta, you must pre-order the game either on Amazon or at your local Gamestop. Maybe the beta will be open to the public too! >>Source Gaming Video of the WeekSpoiler (Click to View)
