VAC Ban information needed - Shadow Reign - Oct 12, 2018

I'm going to be testing a cheat in order to obtain further information about it so that a proper custom anti-cheat can be implemented, however the cheat is very detectable by VAC (will be doing on a non-VAC server but was told I may still get banned) and was curious how the bans work.

If they see my main account connected to the same IP as the throw away account, will they ban both of them or will they just ban the throwaway account?

I will be using a VPN, VM station and various other measures of anonymity to prevent this but I'm curious if I even have too.

Your main account will only be banned if your phone number is connected to both. Also, you won't get a ban on non-VAC servers, simply because VAC is disabled and is not running. Run the game with the following launch option "-insecure" to simply be unable to join any VAC enabled servers.

So is what I'm doing overkill? Do I even need to bother using a VPN and VM station?

Sure, it's a little overkill if you plan on not testing with VAC enabled anyway. I'm one for safety and being overkill so I would probably do it anyway, but yeah it's kinda overkill, not gonna lie. If you ever decide to test it out on VAC it'd still be tad overkill if the two accounts aren't connected by anything else than IP. But still, I'm an overkill type of person, I'd probably go the overkill route just because.

Just the throwaway gets cucked, as long as phone numbers are not linked! :)
