Policy Question

My brother asked if he can join HackForums

(Jan 18, 2018 02:59 PM)Steve Wrote:  It'll be on your profile page. I believe below your signature. Only moderators can see it.

Correct. Mentors/Staff/Admins are able to view “moderator notes” on your account. These are visible to us and can be used for Staff to keep notes on a user for various reasons. One such reason is not note that your brother was reported to have an account here.

Send your brother’s UID to any Staff member and ask if they can make a note on your account and his.

As explained above though, your account could potentially be punished for actions he may commit against the community. Your risk.

Post your brothers UID on this thread when he joins so I can neg him for being a multi
Message someone from the staff team, when he Join with the UID .. And you make sure your brother reads the Help Docs and doesn't violate any HF policies.
Possibly if he does violate any rules, that can even affect your account too

After that, you will be fine

Hope that helps you

Good Luck

yea he fishy as fuck too
As long as you and your brother stay out of trouble (basically don’t give staff a reason to check your accounts), you should be good. Of course if red flags are popping up everywhere like someone gets scammed or there is a problem, they would take action.

You can rep him if you want. Note that this further connects you to him.

When the Trust Scam is fixed, upgraded members will see that you have a matching IP. This may discourage members from dealing with you. If members see this and give you a neutral or negative reputation for it, that in and of itself is not considered reputation abuse.

This will be even worse for your brother. New accounts with matching IPs are highly suspect of being multis. Your reputation (assuming that you explain he's your brother) on him could help dissuade this though.

In the end it's simply a matter of how much you trust your brother. I joined after my roommate recommended the site to me, so we had matching IPs for awhile. We eventually moved in with a third member so we all had two other matching IPs. Nothing ever happened to us because nobody did anything stupid.

Pretty much this.
Staff member 10th Jan 2017 - 30th May 2020.
HF Administrator 30th May 2020 - 14th July 2022.

It was a blast being on staff. I stepped down as it's time for me to move on. I wish you all the best and if you were hit by my warnings and/or bans, it was nothing personal.

Peace out!
