Free Checkup Utilities

I've never been a fan of this whole DDoS nonsense. We get it, you can ping stuff. 🤦‍♂

The best way to put an end to this Marai fiasco is to change your passwords. However, convincing clients their internet connected toaster is the bane of human existence is almost never worth the effort. So, I thought, why not automate it?

It's a really small, really portable utility. It grabs the external IP, attempts to connect to port 23, if it's successful, it tries to bruteforce a connection, if that's successful, it has a stern warning to pay your IT dept better and change your damn password.

It's hard-coded to only work on the machine it's currently being run on (No input / can't use custom IPs), I'd be more than happy to release the source code, it can be fully customized from a config file. (Background image, popup wording, etc, etc) It's written in VB6 so it'll compile and run on any installation of M$ Windows from ME on up. (I know, I know...but VB5/6 will literally run on any version of windows from the last 20 damn years.)

It's more or less a marketing gimick, if you're trying to buy some goodwill and drum up some nerd business. As a side effect, there will be that many fewer doorbells helping packetstorm minecraft servers, or whatever the kids are doing these days.

Anyone interested?

(If this is not the right section, I'd appreciate someone saying something. I'll pull it and re-post wherever it belongs.)
