Termux Root Mode Without Rooting Your Device

Rooting Termux is used to obtain Android root access in order to run certain programs. However, how can Termux gain root access without having to root the phone? Here is the explanation.

Alright, let’s get started. Open Termux and install Fake Root. This is the command:
Code
pkg install fakeroot

Once the installation is complete, run it using this command:
Code

To verify if root is working in Termux, use the following command:
Code
whoami

If the process is successful, the word ‘ROOT’ will be displayed.

That’s all for this tutorial. Congratulations, you’ve succeeded! You can now use Termux with root access without rooting your device. Hope this helps, everyone.

fakeroot is not true root privileges, it merely masquerades as root and cannot modify files that require root privileges. It simply makes the program execute as if it had root privileges.

That’s correct. It only acts as root within the Termux environment, mainly to install tools that require root privileges inside Termux. Because of that, we can use fakeroot without needing to actually root the device.

Yes, but this privilege applies only within the Termux environment.
I use this method when installing tools that require privileged access.
