Circle Froze cUSDC and Accidentally Made Monero’s Case

Stuff like this is why XMR keeps proving why it is still on top for privacy coins. If a token can be frozen, blacklisted, or rugged by a third party, it was never real privacy.

Privacy should not need a trust layer, permission, or some company sitting above it with a blacklist button. That is the whole point.

It seems that people are constantly trying to adopt the "next best thing", when in reality we've already had the "best thing" in terms of crypto anonymity and security for years now with Monero.

I still don't understand why Exodus wallet stopped its support for Monero.

Yeah, I read that cUSDC was only going to mask balance and transactions, but the system can support observer access for auditors/regulators. It was only private from the public. I guess that was already a big enough draw for some.

I get convinced with each day that XMR is the future of crypto.
Always think of some cia guy sitting there watching the hidden blockchain and can see all the wallets and exchanges.

Cryptography is only as secure as the current computing power. While no publicly known exploits exist to break Monero's cryptography, future advancements could potentially threaten these privacy layers.

I think a great feature XMR should have is also a USD similar like stable coin. A stable coin for privacy coins. I’m not sure how would that work, and the trust behind it as well, or the backing of 1:1.

I wouldn’t trust Exodus or any third party wallet besides either the official Monero GUI or Featherwallet. You lost complete privacy in public nodes and all the tracking behind those wallets.
cUSD was a poor attempt at a privacy solution which completely ignored the fact that the underlying collateral could be frozen at any time.

All cUSD did was co-mingle centralized stables in a liquidity pool without any anonymity and that always carries the tail risk of co-mingling with bad funds. One bad apple ruins the entire bunch.

At least products like Tornado Cash break the sender/receiver chain and can meet their intended use-case without risk of censorship.
