I have just installed a windows 7 guest on virtualbox (fedora 17 host) and have a quick question regarding if I am safe from getting my host OS hacked through the guest? I do not really care about the info they can get through the guest, but is it still necessary to have a good AV and FW installed to stay on the safe side?

It has the same Ip address, other than that, there is absolutely no relation.

No need for an antivirus.
