I don't think its a prank regardless of the much humor that was shown.
The feature has already been implement on a minor range of videos.

I think until now there is a button for it, although it seems like an un-official
joke button, I'm sure it will be made official and actually resemble 360°.

I'm not sure if it was April fools as that's quite ironic as it already exists.

It may exist but you would have to have a specially made sort of recorder to be able to do this 360 vision, as you can tell all the videos it was made for, it was always in the same place, and you just watched a video on the screen.
