Facebook "identify friends" security wall

Anyone know of a successful way to get past this?

I have several accounts on facebook, each completely independent of the others. No, none of them are used for or have ever been used for spamming or marketing purposes of any sort. Just alternate accounts.

Tonight I hit a security wall trying to use an account that I hadn't signed into for around 2 or 3 months (note: I always keep the cookie information in the browser to hopefully avoid such security walls or other similar annoyances).

This is the first time I've seen this: it isn't just asking me to identify friends. It's showing me pictures of 5 friends. It says you have to contact 3 of these friends (by phone, text, what have you), literally, and then these friends are supposed to then go to a specific facebook URL (which you give them) where they'll receive a "code" that each friend is then supposed to relay back to you. When you have all 3 codes from the 3 friends, you enter them into the appropriate boxes under each corresponding friend who gave you their specific code.

Interestingly, while this is going on, under all of this crap is a continuous link which say something like, "verify my account another way." But when you click that link, you're brought back only to the option to verify through friends, as outlined above. I have a date of birth that I could verify with. I have the 3 "security questions and answers" that I could verify with but, of course, it won't allow me to use those options for some interesting reason.

Clearly is would be anywhere from very difficult to impossible to phone up 3 friends, ask them to go through the bullshit of going to some URL, and then relaying a code back to you. Anyone who has any type of facebook account, near regardless of its purpose, is going to have a degree of "friends" that they have little to no contact with in the outside world. And obviously facebook KNOWS this. If it was really about their (facebook's) "concern for your account security," it would be better to require a date of birth and/or require the proper responses to the 3 security questions that you answer and fill-in when you start an account.

So as asked earlier, anyone know of a successful way to get past this? My perception of this seemingly obvious ploy is that it is meant to shut down an account, period. Judge, jury and executioner. You know.

EDIT: Don't know if this question is posted in the best/correct forum. If not, mod please move. Thanks.
