My Testimonial:
I'll start off by giving you a little background information about who I am. My name is Colt, I am 22 years old and I study biochemistry at the University of Missouri. I am currently in my last year where I hope to be admitted in medical school and earn my M.D. (this will all become more relevant by the end)
When I was much younger (9-12 years old) I used to dedicate a lot of my time online playing RuneScape. I really loved that game and put in so many hours just so I could buy the coolest gear and show it off in Falador Park where most of the trading was done. Although this was my hope and dream, I never achieved any success because as a very young kid coming to a somewhat early stage of computer security, I CONSTANTLY was getting infected with keyloggers and RATs. It must have been all of the hours I spent trying to find RuneScape cheats such as item duplicators, and stat boosters lol. As you know, there are no cheats for the game, and I fell quickly into a cycle of never ending gold loss. The worst part about this all, was that I had no idea what was happening, and didn't have the knowledge to clean my PC. I would make more gold, log in, and all of it would be gone. This process happened more than I care to recall.
One day, I remember asking my older cousins and brother what could have happened. They mentioned that I was definitely hacked by someone who had infected me with a keylogger. This is where my registration to HF came in to play. I joined HF WAY back on January 28th, 2009. At that time, I should have been 12 years old. I ended up spending the first couple of my years in the hacking section learning lots about computer security and a little about how I could pay revenge to those who wronged me 🤝. I never really posted much, and I didn't have much to offer; I was pretty much just absorbing information and understanding the climate of online interactions.
Fast forward to 2014, I have quit playing RuneScape as I've gotten a little older and I've gained quite an interest in cryptocurrency. The scene on HF wasn't fully developed but I knew a lot about trading and exchanging bitcoin through 2 year history on localbitcoins.com. Around late 2014, I see a massive influx in users who are wishing to purchase Bitcoin for PayPal and I immediately latched on. At this time, it would have been my freshman year of college and as most people know, money is tight for college students as they don't have much time to work. It started off extremely slow as I had 100 posts and was not an upgraded member. I immediately created my own exchange thread and starting reaching out to more trusted users in the CE section. This way, I would feel more comfortable going first while at the same time increasing my reputability in the CE section. Soon enough, I had enough vouches to sustain my own thread and the amount of exchanges I was doing was ridiculous. Having my own exchange thread on HF allowed me to hold a steady income, where I was able to pay for food, drinks, nights at the bar, and so much more.
Everything wasn't always great though. I had a few run-ins with chargebacks (still do) and the majority of my PayPal accounts were limited. I no longer was able to exchange and this really put a huge blow to my bank account. I ended up leaving HF for a couple of years. Just about a month ago, I realized my PayPal accounts are no longer limited, and I jumped at the chance to come back to HF and provide my service. Since then, everything has been great! I've made more money here in the past 4 weeks then I would have ever when I first started. My academic schedule for the next year is absolutely insane and there's no way I'd be able to make it without exchanging and networking with the people here on this site. I literally don't have 6 hours of my time to dedicate to working a shift @ only 10 dollars an hour. Not only that, but I've made a few good friends here; something I didn't know was even possible to do online. I've never been more appreciative of the community as I've began interacting with the members far outside the CE section. I've enjoyed myself so much that I've even joined a couple of groups (something I was never involved in before) while providing insight on matters that I'm well educated in. Without HF, I don't know if I would have financially survived my college experience. Even after being here for so long, I'm just now dipping my toes into the community and I'm really excited to be a part of the future of this website. HF is just getting started 😁
