If I had $0 to begin with, then I'd focus on bug bounty hunting and/or exploit dev (theres been plenty occasions where ive made 25-30x that amount in under 72hrs in the past via bug bounties... although they are kinda hit and miss I guess). Biggest payout I've had from a single bounty report was $36,000 for something that took me 2 hours to identify and develop a working PoC for. As for exploit dev, I've had various payouts in excess of $80,000 (through Zerodium sales - RCE's for Joomla, Wordpress etc.. lands you an easy $80k), and my largest payout was $200,000 for a browser-based exploit that took me probably just a little over 72 hours of development to create.
If I had startup money, then I'd be trading various cryptocurrencies -- shorting in bearish markets and HODLing in bullish markets. For example, recently I shorted BTC by buying at $3100 and selling at $4000 (over a 48 hour period). I bought a large quantity of coins which resulted in a large profit margin. If I didn't have much startup money then the profits would barely even be worth it. E.g. if you only had 1BTC and shorted $3.1k-->$4k then it'd only be a profit of $900, but if you had 100BTC and shorted $3.1k-->$4k then it'd be a profit of $90,000. I guess trading crypto does involve chance to SOME extent,, but there is also skill involved if you're good at reading the market and following trends.
If you have 500k+, why are you wasting your time here explaining this? 500k is plenty of money to trade crypto. I smell bullshit.
Anyways, buying low and reselling high of a favored item would be one of the most ideal ways. Currency exchanging can also net you some quick cash too if you are moving volume. Another way but very time consuming is arbitrage trading.
