I was friends with this guy online for a few years, then somehow he found my phone number despite me never revealing it to him. I did post my phone number on ad sites or marketplaces, and but how did he find my ads?
I did remember sending him a screenshot of my ad, but I made sure to not reveal the site it was from, my address, or personal information, all I did reveal was the title of the ad, "Gaming keyboard Logitech 513 for sale". Somehow, he found the website and the ad, because that's the only site that my phone number is publicly displayed.
Idk how easy it is to use google search to find the ad based on solely the title.
He knew you for a few years, so he likely knew the area you were in and your name and age, your email address, online handles you use. It really doesn't take much to find someone. I mean I've found people I gamed with years ago just based on their gamertag, I search their gamertag on google as well as different social media sites then sometimes they post it publicly looking to game with others.

This is the screenshot I sent him. Somehow, from just this image, he was able to locate which website it was from.
That website is the only place where I publicly display my phone number.
Despite knowing him a few years, I never once let him know of my personal information, especially phone number, it was very private information.
I did chat with him on Telegram, but I added him through his handle, vice versa, I don't recall showing phone number. Maybe it was shown public on settings.

I think you just solved it yourself. You're able to see the phone numbers of your added contacts on Telegram. There's a privacy setting that you can change to block others abilities to see it.

If it's not this, then it wouldn't take much to search your username on some breached database searching sites and thus also get your phone number if you ever provided it to a website thats been breached.
