[Tut] Build a Killer Customized Arch Linux Installation (+ Learn About Linux) [TuT]

I recommended new users that want to try arch use archbang, getting a DE setup can be hell and as all systems are different solutions vary which may cause some users to get frustrated and give up on it, which is sad to see.

Working with arch for the first time is both challenging and a good learning experience.

You should add:
http://archbang.org/

As an option.
Yes of course, especially if you want to start from nothing and pick your DE without having to remove the included one (referring to archbang) I usually prefer openbox but I used to use blackbox.

One thing Ive noticed people panic over is installing proprietary GPU drivers and the arch wiki does a good job of explaining the basic setup, unfortunately though it does help with case by case issues like having to remove libgl.

I would like to put up a nice tutorial on fixing common issues in arch when I get around to it, you would be surprised how many people can't even add a repository.

You start from nothing, when you build up your system you get a real sense of it being "yours" its highly customizable in both performance and usability, has a wide variety of desktop requirements that may be used with it such as: gnome, kde, xfce, lxde, openbox, fluxbox, blackbox just to name some off the top of my head.

The base system with openbox and the basic applications (web browser, image editor, music/video player, office apps) only uses about 250 mb of ram.

Applications are very easy to install, most can be installed by simply using pacman to install it which usually requires but one single command(pacman -S amarok for example will install a great media player) no clicking: next, next, next, install here, ok, finish etc

tl;dr

Very fast, clean, and highly customizable.
I came across this before, but didn't use it when setting up Arch. I actually used a youtube guide, I think the videos were by ThisWeekInLinux (something along those lines). He put together a few nice videos on installing Arch.
Those are some pretty nice tutorials, thanks for this. I'm a linux newbie; these should come in handy!
