Sums it up well. Since you'll have to be investing a good amount to begin with ($100's easily), I'd recommend against trying to cut corners. Sites like PTF use ShiftCode and a heavily customized theme and they obviously are making a good profit. Definitely try joining some CPA sites, though the majority that I've used normally don't have many offers that allow incentives, so see what other GPT sites are running and search for those specific offers - you should find some nice sites to earn from.
