Plot
Light Yagami is an extremely intelligent young man who resents what appears to be a relentless increase of crime and corruption in the world around him. His life undergoes a drastic change when he discovers a mysterious notebook, known as the “Death Note,” lying on the ground. The Death Note’s instructions claim that if a human’s name is written within it, that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the notebook’s authenticity, but after experimenting with it, he realizes that the Death Note is real. After meeting with the previous owner of the Death Note, a shinigami named Ryuk, Light seeks to become “the God of the New World” by passing his keen judgment on those he deems to be evil or who get in his way.
Review
Death Note, what can I say... Death Note is anime, Death Note simply has has everything a good anime needs. From deep character development to detailed plot lines that leave you wanting more and more. Death Not is easily one of the greatest, arguably the best crime/mystery anime.
The only way to really describe Death Note is ONE BIG ASS GAME OF CHESS with no real winners but a thrilling game never the less. Death Notes mental battles between the two main protagonists are just incredible. it's the whole “Will he outthink my outthinking?”. Almost along the lines of, He is expecting this so i will do this but he will know that so i will do this instead.
It really is battle of the minds in it's greatest form.
The animation of Death Note is perfect for the anime, it is not the greatest animation especially when compared to the modern day anime but it really would not be death note with out the dark and almost dismal coloring of death notes animation. It really go's well with the the entire presence and attitude of anime.

The only criticism I really have with Death Note is it takes itself way to seriously during the whole anime. Even during the scenes where you think it is a relaxed situation for example a tennis game between the two man protagonists had more tension the defusing a bomb. However this still had to the whole OMFG this is awesome view of Death Note... there really is never a doll moment in Death Note
