so when I run a .bat file the FIRST command in the file gives an error but every command after that will run just fine.

say I run the .bat file below, the first line has this "" added before it, so it does not run properly.

I had this problem when writing text to a .bat file in VB.NET, is that what you are doing? Because I know a fix.

I use notepad++
its not just an issue with the .bat files I create. every time an installer or compiler program tries to run any .bat file I get that on the first line...

Maybe running a system restore?
Because this is very werid.

And maybe a test:
Make a .bat file on a OTHER pc and run it in this pc.

already tried that test and many many others. and I have done system restores. none of them fixed this as this has been a problem for longer that the system restores I have I guess

I suggest you reinstall your OS then. Never seen anything like it, and if system restores don't fix it either you're pretty much out of luck.

instead of puting it into notepad++, put it into regular notepad please for the test.

click "Save as"
name it as whatever.bat
"Save as type": All files
"Encoding": ANSI

and reply with results

actually yeah that worked. :O
so whats the issue with notepad++
