I'd add in two things though

It isn't smart to use a CPU for mining, for one the rate they mine is so slow it just isn't worth it, not to mention CPUs are very costly compared to GPUs and mining does run the chance of hardware failure if you aren't careful.

Also, you shouldn't try mining if you have an nVidia GPU, AMD blows away their return rate.
