Crypto Currency - Official Help Desk

How do you join the specialists? I have a very high area of expertise in Crypto Currency and I would love to help out with this thread.
Is there a recruitment thread currently open?

$50-$200 isn't likely going to get you an extreme amount of hash power. Personally I'd recommend spending up to $500 on a miner as you'll usually have a return on investment in less than 3 months. That ROI can go a lot faster if you follow altcoins on Bitcointalk for new releases and look for coins which are likely to succeed or draw a lot of hype. Mine until they hit the exchanges and then profit. If you are set on your price you'd probably end up with a Raspberry Pi but I'll let someone more knowledgeable in hardware recommend specific pieces for you to buy.

Betarigs will give you a chart showing how much hashing power is being submitted which is nice but you have to open a ticket if the rig has been falsely advertised. While I've never used Leaserig it looks as though it's essentially the same idea as Betarigs where you pay to rent a specific miner.

I personally prefer Nicehash as it usually turns out to be cheaper despite the fact that you're bidding against other people interested in buying hashing power. You pay for the VALID hashes you receive and not the invalid ones which is a very big plus in my book. Nicehash pools all their hashing power together from miners and divides it up based on the amount each person is looking to purchase which is why you could go up to 20Gh/s provided you had the top buy order.

Minimum order on Nicehash is 50Mh/s whereas there is no minimum order on Betarigs or leaserigs. Nicehash you can stop mining at any time but Betarigs and Leaserig you purchase a contract for a certain amount of time.

I don't recommend renting hashing power to mine BTC. The 24 hour average price for 1TH of SHA256 mining is 0.022 BTC/TH/Day. One TH of power will get you 0.00001834 BTC per day.

0.022-0.00001834 = 0.02198166 BTC loss
0.02198166BTC = $10.47 loss

If it were profitable for them to mine BTC they would be doing so instead of renting it. That's why most people who rent power usually end up using it on altcoins. Usually it happens this way because the person who owns the miner either doesn't know how to keep up with the markets or doesn't care to.
What's you opinion of the current BTC happenings, what's the reason?

Bitcoin is a risky payment method, it fluctuates daily and who knows what the price will start and end with. Personally, I think Bitcoin will manage to increase steadily to its average price of $550.. that's when I'll be dumping. I believe when December is here, it was go low as $380, & that's when ill be buying back in.

This is just a speculation, so don't take my word for it.

I agree with what you are saying. Just want to add my 2cents to this.

Withe more online vendors accepting bitcoin with bitpay. It seems like this is causing alot of sell pressure since bitpay converts the BTC to USD.
What would be the best crypto currency to mine with 20 Mh/s?

Unfortunately we cannot recommend a "best" option profitability wise because the most profitable coin is constantly changing. Would you mind telling us what your 20Mh/s is in, whether it be scrypt or something else? After that we should be able to give you some recommendations at least.
(Sep 14, 2014 09:51 AM)Crypto Miner Wrote:  Yeah, buy into coins. I purchased 500 litecoins when they were at $3 a piece, two days later they hit $6. Doubled my money that easy. You need to be prepared to take the risk, only invest what you're willing to loose. Same goes with primedice.

To add onto this, if you do enough research, watch the markets, and pay attention to news you'll be able to have much more success. Treat cryptos like the stock market and you can day trade your way to wealth if you're good at it.
If I spend 500$ on a rig, what sort of profit would I get in a week?

Is it because of Russia?

Nobody can predict where BTC's price will fall to as we are not fortune tellers. There is no algorithm or chart to follow which can predict its price. All we can do is sit and watch.
Crypto Miner, do you think that Butterfly Labs being shut down has an impact on the price of the coin? I think it could in that illegitimate competitors are not going to be taking money away from people who would be contributing to mining.

I'm surprised to see such a low rise in price. I believe many people are skeptical of PayPal given all the trouble many have had in the past with them. Though it may not be an immediate rise like I expected ($50+) we should see the price start climbing now at least.
Its not that big of a deal. PayPal partnered with other payment processor. Its no more special to other news like Dell, Dish ... "accepting" it via a third party.

Wait till PayPal really accept and integrate Bitcoin then you will see a huge price rise.

Actually it's much, much larger than those companies accepting it. The fact that the largest payment processor is going to allow BTC to be processed is huge. It allows regular people to be able to pay and accept BTC with little to no knowledge about how it works. Bringing it to the masses does a great deal in terms of acceptance amongst the general population.
Yeah this is great news even if they use a third party. I believe it will slowly rise now
