To be honest, I believe this is more of a bug than an intended feature. Nonetheless, this has happened to me before.

You currently can give an unlimited (seemingly) amount of edit reps per day, however have a limit of Neutral, Positive or Negative rep you can give per day, so for example you give 4 reps a day, and have one remaining, you can then use that one to edit your rep on people, how ever many times you want. However if you use that one, you won't be able to anymore. I am pretty sure Omniscient is aware of the rep editing thing where if you hit 5 you can no longer edit, however I don't believe its at the top of his agenda.

an uber who hasnt maxed rep for the day could do that since it seems you get unlimited edits until you max out reps.

Yea pretty much, if someoe wanted to abuse it, they could I guess. I haven't seen it much though..

Agreed, This is really annoying and editing rep should not be counted as a new rep.

Edit reputation no matter when it was given
"Changed last" label from edits
