Im currently working on similar program as Spotify. But its 100% music from youtube.
Done- Photoshop GUI.
- PHP API fetch playlist information as arrays: .mp3,title,thumbnail.
- Settings.
- Track song (h.m.s).
- Music Player (VLC).
- Save currently song playing & image (Something for streamers).
In Progress- Request handler to PHP API.
- Language files (English,Spanish,Swedish).
To do- Code the GUI.
- Login system or by ip-adress (haven't decided yet).
- Make playlists (Save on PC or the php system based on user logged in).
- Last.fm connection (Maybe).
- Count users online using the app.
- TOP playlists tab.
Looks like this right now (GUI coming).

Im not using a web browser, i was thinking about that but i ended up with no web browser.
wow i can see the future of this program op i believe there is going to be some people later on who will buy the project and make it bigger furthermore if you can make this universal ( youtube, vemo , howcast etc.. )and get better ajax look or sexy gui ( in the future)

Did you use load of code to get data from the html code or did you use Google's Developer Console API?
(Dec 4, 2014 07:12 PM)PapaBeans Wrote: @OP How do you load the images? Just wondering how you went about it.
Depends on how hes searchiing (api or youtube.com htmlcode) but if you can get a list of video IDs, you can get a thumbnail from: i.ytimg.com/vi/VIDEOID/mqdefault.jpg

You're welcome. Just wondering, how did you originally get the image?

"own small api to get the mp3s"
I'm not sure about the .net component but you can use the youtube url directly in VLC under network stream.
EDIT:
TESTED, It works
