Well, sometimes they do. Depends per registrar. Takes a few weeks to 3 months before they drop the domain. It's worth the wait imho, but that depends on you, the buyer, what you are going to use the domain for.

True, however that is the same for NetworkSolutions and some other registrars.
1&1 is nothing but a scam company. They say that it's $1 for a year, however after my one year was over, I ended up getting over $50 in charges. I was instantly reported to my credit company.

Just remove your PayPal from the account, and cancel the Recurring Payments options within PayPal.

That's true. Namecheap sure is easier to use (for many domains). However, I mostly use domains only for 1 year and then get rid of them so for me this was a great choice.
