[TuT] How to manually decrypt ROT-13 Hash [TuT] by 3x0r

[TuT] How to manually decrypt ROT-13 Hash [TuT] by 3x0r

This tutorial is for those who don't know about ROT-13 if you know it don't bother reading.

Introduction

Some people send ROT-13 type of emails to confuse unwanted readers thinking it's a mysterious language.
Same with some hackers want to communicate without knowing others what they are talking about.
It has been evolved in mid-1992 as a response to postings repeating urban myths on alt.folklore.urban, after some posters complained that "Sheesh!" as a response to newcomers was being overused.

So lets us start:

ROT-13 is the easiest Hash to crypt and also easier to decrypt
What to do is writing from A to Z and in the half make some spaces
a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z

Then put under what you wrote from N to Z then from A to M
a b c d e f g h i. j .k l m..n o p q r s t u v w x y z
n o p q r s t u v w x y z..a b c d e f g h i. j .k l m

Lets try to crypt And decrypt HackForums
a b c d e f g h i. j .k l m..n o p q r s t u v w x y z
n o p q r s t u v w x y z..a b c d e f g h i. j .k l m
You check the character of the word and you write the character under it
H = u
a = n
c = p
k = x
F = s
o = b
r = e
u = h
m = z
s = f
so we get UnpxSbehzf

In cryptography, a Caesar cipher, also known as a Caesar's cipher, the shift cipher, Caesar's code or Caesar shift, is one of the simplest and most widely known encryption techniques. It is a type of substitution cipher in which each letter in the plaintext is replaced by a letter some fixed number of positions down the alphabet. For example, with a shift of 3, A would be replaced by D, B would become E, and so on. The method is named after Julius Caesar, who used it to communicate with his generals.

Quote:What about numbers?

If you use just numbers, you use rot5, just letters would be rot13, and a combination of letters and numbers would be rot18.

rot47 is an extended edition with some extra special signs.

I myself, I always use double ROT13 for extra protection.

Exactly :D

Glad to help anytime 😈
Soon I will do some other ROT Tutorials
Thank's man for this..Really usefull for me!!! 🙂
Thanks for this tutorial,its really usefull
If you're decrypting, or wanting to use ROT-13 for anything, Python provides an ever easy way of doing so:

Code
print(raw_input("Message: ").encode("rot13"))
