I did my first flight as a pilot! 39 more hours to go!

Amazing! I've always wanted to become a pilot. Maybe I'll be able to someday.

If you want to fly on bad days (ex. rainy, cloudy, foggy) you'd need an IFR (instrument flight rules) rating. That's harder to do because you're flying off of instruments but I think it's not that hard.

Go take a lesson and see how you like it :P

Yeah I've been in simulators practicing ILS landings and I got the hang of it eventually. It's been a long time since I did anything in regards to aviation. I've probably forgot a thing or 2.

Lessons seem to be quite expensive though.

I think it'll be worth it at the end though :)

God that's expensive. I'll probably end up sticking with a job for a while and save up for a few. What kind of tests do you do before you actually take your first lessons?

I think this is how it works (I'm not that knowledgable when it comes to getting the license.):

You take your flights and finish meeting the 40 hour requirements http://www.firstflight.com/private-pilot-requirements/

As you're doing the 40 hours you're learning information which will be on the tests. The tests are the final thing you do, I think.

Actually most of that sounds pretty easy to me. If only I had the money.

What about school grades and what not? I was always told they have to be good. Do they even check? I know you said it was fairly simple for you but didn't they check any of that?

As for school grades, I've never heard anything about that. All you need is to make your instructor be sure that you can fly good and then pass your tests.

Ah good for me. I didn't do the best at school.

Best of luck to you. I've always respected pilots and airmen alike.

Much love.
Fuck OP thats one hell of a accomplishment! I've always wanted to fly a plane.
Very nice OP. Kind of funny how my current hour count is 39 hours :P I am in the process of doing all the cross country flights and cross country solo. After that I will be starting reviewing for my check ride. Good luck!
thats awesome bro heard pilots make alot of money
I wanted to take some lessons but got denied because I have glasses.

Yes they are really expensive but if you come to the States you will be in luck. All of the airlines want people with engineering degrees. It is really valuable to have one as a pilot.
Thats pretty cool, guess it would be a different kind of joy to experience.

I have 20/25 with glasses and was still denied.
Sounds like you had a good time. I've always debated whethet going into flying planes or law enforcement.
(Jun 20, 2015 12:19 PM)Bentley Wrote:  That's not right. They shouldn't deny you. Were you trying for something other than private or recrational license?

Here's he requirements, from the FAA:

Nope. Just Private license.

I was denied by the Flight school in my area.
