You should probally say somewhere that you need to update your OS completely or you will have problems with the make command at the end. Also, nothing about load modules, class clients or anything like that?

Thanks for this tutorial. I have been following it.

Though, I'm having a problem once my server is up & running, I try to connect via my mIRC client and I'am getting this error :

My Stupid IRC Server Wrote:* Connecting to XXX.XX.XXX.XX (8080)
-
-XXX.XX.XXX.XX- * Looking up your hostname...
-
-XXX.XX.XXX.XX- * Found your hostname (cached)
-
* Disconnected

XXX.XX.XXX.XX is the IP of the server I want to connect to, of course.

And it keeps doing that, from any client or any computer/network ..

Do you have any ideas ?

If you use Ubuntu the command you would need to use are.
sudo apt-get update (Hopefully you will get all below installed if not follow with them)
sudo apt-get install gcc gcc++
sudo apt-get install build-essential
sudo apt-get install nano
