could use some guidance/critique

Hey guys, I'm almost never in the GFX section, but after seeing a lot of s9teen's work, sorry to the other GFX people this comment isn't meant to offend you for not mentioning your name, I've become inspired/interested in trying some things. Now I'm definitely not a creative person, so I'm in trouble from the get go, but I decided to give it a whirl anyway. I've started making a signature just to see how it turns out, I have Photoshop on my Windows install, but since I've been using that less and less and using my Jaunty more and more I made this with GIMP. I'm not that familiar with Photoshop, I can do some things, and with GIMP I know even less. Basically I've got 3 layers going on with this signature, one is the BG, one is the render, and the third one is a "Gloss Layer" that I figured out how to do on GIMP based on a tutorial created by GFXdexter. The problem is I've hit a wall, and I honestly don't know what else I can do with the sig to "spice" it up. Right now it seems too bland and empty to me, so if anyone has anything that will help I'm open to tips, comments, constructive criticism etc.

Thanks for reading and any responses.

it looks chill - i like it
maybe you could throw some type in the left corner to fill it up a bit

something flashy
too short
Hmm... where to start! lol Well first off thanks for the compliment! Next the sig... well... lol The gloss really doesn't even look right! A gloss should cover most of the sig not just a part of it. Width wise anyway. Basically mate you just gotta start reading tutorials and going at it like no tomorrow! lol I have no clue how to use GIMP but with PS I would at least throw in some Clouds into the BG, Using a solid color will hardly ever be a good thing! lol needs a border and some text or something! lol Go here http://www.pixel2life.com/ and just search through some cool effects for PS once you have a few cool things under your belt throw them into a sig with some rendering and such just try to make something that flows well! lol
Thanks guys, @s9TeeN The gloss does cover the width, I think it's just a little harder to see when it's over the render. Thanks for the tips, and I'll check that link out. :)
