TuT - How to spoof your MAC address -/TuT-

(Mar 11, 2014 12:03 AM)HydraPlane Wrote:  When I use this code:

ifconfig - a | grep HWaddr

I get these two MACs:

- eth0
- wlan0

Is eth0 the router's MAC?

Would changing both of them be more effective or should I just change one?

Thanks for the tutorial OP.

eth0 is your ethernet connection, So your actual NIC's MAC

Thanks for that.

Would changing it in addition to the machine's MAC (wlan0) using the ifconfig command improve anonymity?

No not on a hard wired machine using a wireless connection but when you down the card and use the iwconfig command to put the card in monitor mode you also use ifconfig to put your( Usually mon0) down then up to the same mac going into monitor mode with macchanger changing the macs won't do this but the combination of
ifconfig and iwconfig and then ifconfig will do this to make mon0 s mac change as well macchanger does not change the mac of mon0 .Look into both these commands as well as the iw command this one is the NEW AND IMPROVED iwconfig command. and remember google is your friend 🎉🎉🎉🤝 So: I'm not going to go into too much depth about it since most of the information is out there.
