HackForums CTF

Have always been open to doing this.

It's beyond my personal expertise and skill set.

No one has ever stepped forward to assist with a feature. I'm willing to pay for the servers but I simply can't set them up. Had a couple people over the years show interest in helping but no one has actually done it.

This is going to be challenging and something Cool for 2020 .
@Dotexe Above Post says it all , You got Omni's support .

Hope you'll make something challenging Good Luck
CTF's are awesome. Hopefully someone comes along that knows how to implement such a feature.

The development work alone would be a pretty big undertaking.

I'm ready to join i already participated few CTF's
This is a really good idea, we should have everyone participate, attack-defense is a bit advanced, which I would like to see later. It would be very awesome if we had a HF CTF.
Let's make HF great again.

Love this idea, actually building a team with friends to start doing CTFs, glade to hear that on HF 🤭

I ran the CTF team at my university and still actively compete in CTF's on a [mostly] weekly basis, and hosting a CTF has always been something that I'd like to do, however, I do share the same sentiment as Omniscient, it's a pretty big undertaking and requires a skill set that I believe is above my own.

Sure, it's not difficult to set up an SQL injectable web page or run vulnerable software, it's not hard to use weak/broken crypto to encrypt a flag, it's probably not even that difficult to make a small little program that you can invoke a certain function through BOF, but some of the challenges that I come across are really advanced and creative, and I always doubt my ability to come up with something cool, unique, and creative like that.

If I wanted to commit my time towards running a CTF competition, I'd want to know that it's unique enough, creative enough, and challenging enough that everybody of all skill levels can enjoy themselves, and I'm not there yet. If there are others here who plan on making a competition, I'll contribute a bit, but for the time being I'm gonna stick to just competing (my team hovers around ranks 45-60 overall depending on who's actively competing around us 😊).

well, I would love one of the contributors for this, we could come up with a team, I am a cybersecurity student, we can come up with ideas and creative ways for a CTF challenges, it's not that hard as it needs time to do it. i would ask @Omniscient to create a private forum and we can collect specific people and share knowledge on this CTF Event, it could be a big one many will join it !!
Thanks everyone for the support, I will try to see if i can contribute to build it as well. I think i still have some connections with people that used to run such platforms.

No one needs my permission to gather members to be part of a CTF team or to start a CTF event. I'd be happy to sponsor it by paying for servers. But again, I don't have the skillset to create, maintain, or run CTF events.
Sounds awesome, and we are all in, what topics should be covered? For example binary exploitation, cryptography, coding, forensics , malware analysis and what else? I am willing to help providing I have time.
I've participated in a number of CTF's now. They are great fun and really helps out with learning.
If there's a team of people who'd be willing to take on this project, I'd like to be involved in the testing stages, if possible.
See, another thread where no one knows how to actually setup CTF.
a VPS/Dedi + CTFd is all you need for the challenge management / user registration / front end stuff / etc. Just coming up with the challenges themselves is rough. If someone wants me to set up an SQL injectable web page, vulnerable software, weak crypto, buffer overflowable applications, stego challenges, etc, I can hide some flags and have 10 ready in a day. But I fear anyone with any sort of basic background into red teaming / CTF's will obtain the flags that I can provide with ease. I could only contribute as far as making a beginner/medium level CTF. It'd be boring to anyone with any sort of experience/background in the field.

Really need someone to go recruit some wiz kid from Carnegie Mellon or UCSB's ShellPhish to put together some really creative and difficult challenges.
