Omni Quote Of the Day

Thank you for this promise.
How does one question what they’re told if they don’t know have any prior knowledge or education? For example I know dog shit about Chemistry and if you told me the formula or a certain reaction, I would not question it as I don’t know anything about it.

So I would revise the quote to be:
Education is learning what you're told. Intelligence is using what you have learned to question what you're told.

What you say is so true, but the average Joe will rage when you question what they tell you....

Unfortunately.

Well, lucky for all of us there is the internet. You don't have to question a person, you can ask AI, search Google, or make a random post on a forum. You can listen to what someone is saying to you and then on your own go seek out confirmation and/or expose their idiocy. You don't to engage in an argument with the person. It's more about learning on your own. Unfortunately I think too many people think knowledge is obtained through direct education. Which is the point of the quote. That to really gain knowledge you should question what you're told while being educated. That's typically called Critical Thinking. Something completely lacking in higher education today. Because most of these kids coming out of college are simply indoctrinated into Marxist ideals.

I can keep asking even if info is on internet, or why do we go to doctors? I can take any medicine if i know the case, but sometimes we need to see what people near us do in this case, i may ask online and know people review about a game, but asking here even in convo is important to me too

Let's imagine what could happen if more people had the courage to question the information they receive. This critical way of thinking could lay the foundation for a more informed and reflective society. In the best case scenario, this would not only strengthen our democracy, but also fuel the pursuit of social justice. Committed citizens could actively participate in important social discourses and passionately campaign for necessary changes.

At first glance, this quote seemed somewhat contradictory to me. Many educational systems actually try to promote both factual knowledge and critical thinking. Curricula are often designed to not only provide students with information, but also encourage them to ask questions, analyze, and form their own opinions.
For me, this is a provocation that serves to stimulate a discussion about the role of education and intelligence and the importance of practicing critical thinking as part of the learning process.

In my opinion, a balance must be found between critical reflection and the necessary trust in knowledge and expertise. Because there are some disadvantages and risks behind it:

Radical questioning can contribute to people turning away from established sources of knowledge, such as universities or specialist literature. It could lead to the idea that everything is relative and that there are no objective truths. This could be dangerous, especially in areas such as medicine or the sciences, where trust in sound knowledge and expertise is crucial.
