Thank you for those links they helped me out. 💯

Ok you come off really rude like some kid in a minecraft discord, but thanks for the info.

I am such a n00b at coding, I will not lie, I will just have it write the whole code if possible. haha
LMFAO, I love how sincere you are!
It just saves you the time of having to go through multiple Google search results. So yeah, a true life helper.
I used it for everything now, even silly things like home renovations with their video call mode I can show it something and it'll give me recommendations.
ill use it to write out sql queries when im feeling lazy. cant really trust functional outputs tbh.

It's a tool, not a solution. But people are definitely using it for more than it really ought to be used for. Vibe coding has become such a thing that it's just sad. LLMs churning out garbage code, being pushed by amateur developers (at best) who don't know what that code is doing and what is isn't doing, and just opening themselves up to problems.

yeah its quite worrying to think of all the chatgpt code that is being ran in the wild.

I mean if it works it works.

yeah it works until it doesnt. or until its exploited. im gonna go out on a limb and assume most chatgpt coders dont understand security coding concepts.

Well let me ask ChatGPT about that? lol
AI Quote: Basic security coding concepts help developers write safe and resilient code. Here are some fundamental principles:
1. Input Validation
Ensure all input data is properly validated, sanitized, and escaped to prevent injection attacks.
Use whitelists instead of blacklists to allow only expected values.
2. Authentication & Authorization
Use strong authentication mechanisms (e.g., multi-factor authentication).
Implement role-based access control (RBAC) to restrict user permissions appropriately.
3. Secure Data Storage
Store sensitive data (passwords, API keys) securely using encryption.
Hash passwords using algorithms like bcrypt, Argon2, or PBKDF2.
4. Secure Communication
Use HTTPS (TLS/SSL) to encrypt data in transit.
Avoid sending sensitive data over unsecured connections.
5. Code Injection Prevention
Prevent SQL injection by using prepared statements and parameterized queries.
Sanitize user inputs to avoid command injection and cross-site scripting (XSS).
6. Secure Session Management
Use secure cookies (HTTPOnly, Secure, SameSite).
Implement session expiration and invalidation after logout.
7. Error Handling & Logging
Avoid exposing system details in error messages.
Log security-related events for monitoring but avoid logging sensitive data.
8. Principle of Least Privilege
Grant users and processes only the permissions they need to perform their tasks.
9. Secure Dependencies
Regularly update third-party libraries and dependencies to patch security vulnerabilities.
Use tools like Dependabot or OWASP Dependency-Check.
10. Security Testing
Conduct regular security audits and penetration testing.
Use static (SAST) and dynamic (DAST) security testing tools.
Would you like any of these explained in more depth?

you can tell it to do all those things but if you need chatgpt to do it for you, are you going to understand when its spitting out bs?

I would research each point and go from there...
To be honest I just use it for simple tasks since I suck at typing.
I am not worried about my bash scripts for local automated tasks getting exploited, neither simple PHP and HTML that I may add to an existing wordpress website. For these simple small tasks it works great and saves so much time. I would normally just copy and paste a lot from the web, now I don't have to search google random websites for what I am looking for.

The AI is good but not really much, at the moment it is not very useful (my opinion) many errors, it does not do things as you tell it and many more things

You just have to learn the 'proper' prompts and train your AI to get better results.
