The house I bought in 2005. In US dollars I only have $20,000 left to pay on it. Luckily I don't have to pay much per week right now.

I should've spoken properly though, it really isn't a lein or anything but has the potential to turn into one if this becomes worse. However, they are trying to make me pay for certain damages that were supposed to be covered under liability insurance so it's a total mess. For personal reasons, I can't dive into the whole thing but: It's a condo/investment property that got f*cked up after a natural disaster and many people are attempting to sue the contracting company tasked with repair who slacked for years and stole supplies from the HOA. For a few years now, other people in the neighborhood have also been left without a home and forced to rent or be homeless since the disaster happened literally almost 2 years ago. I was reading over their accounting paperwork they finally sent over to residents for the past 3-4 years as well and comparing costs and there is a lot of shady stuff that I noticed but I really do not want to say too much since legal counsel has been retained by people part of the complex bc of this whole thing. Basically everyone is being forced to pay for repairs out of a pool of all residents (even though some buildings were not damaged to the extent as others; they must pay the same amount as part of the deductible) that contractors further made repair costs higher by accidentally damaging my unit and others. It was supposed to be wrapped up a year ago but the contracting company and lawyers with the HOA are dragging so much of this out imho and now there are lawsuits all over the place from residents with good reason because we've effectively been unable to live on our property again for literally over 20 months.
