Have you teswst the dual mysql servers on another forum and see if you are able to do it. So then when you implement it on hf it won't be a hassle and should be quick.

We've had 5.7 million PMs go through HF. Compared to the 7 million post we've had. So as you can see PMs are huge here. For every 7 posts there are 5.5 PMs basically.

We may not be a private forum but there is a ton of private message discussion here.

And I have great pruning tools already. Like I said the recent issue is the threads table which is about 800,000 records.

This is still not a 100% solution.

I also have to delete the Junk section. It has 300,000 posts that can get deleted. But I have to be careful by turning off the site and afterwards doing a post a recount. This is prep work for the change to MyBB 1.6x anyways. The smaller the DB the better.

How about reducing the PM limits? I mean, l33ts don't need to store 1,500 PM's. Reduce that to 750 PM's. Normal members don't need 100 PM's, they can cope with 50 PM's. Not sure what the Ub3r limits are so I can't comment on those.
