I would highly reccomend you don't port forward from your own router in regards to hacking but if you wish to do so, here is a tutorial video on the setup.

I can't actually help you in regards to which to pcik as i have never looked into them or used them but with the issue you are having with the losing of slaves make sure that your stub is FUD and that you have port forwarded the correct ports, if that doesn't work try playing around with the configuration of your stub.

You have to have a server running with nameservers active and your domain pointing at those nameservers if you don't then it can't work. Contact me on XMPP if you have any further questions:
