This was an Akita... and about those statistics

Chihuahua 's actually top the list good thing you pointed that out, I greatly appreciate you asking me to look up that fact for you to help me prove my argument further.
And about pitbulls being so inbred, let me ask you if a dog breed has hip dysplasia why would they breed it to a pit? Pitbulls are like any other dog just they get the most bad press. Do you own any dogs BTW? Just so you and I are clear if her dogs did it I 100% believe that they should be put down, yet no one breed is inherently bad. This is like looking at the population of the prison system and saying "All criminals are X race". It doesn't work like that.
Edit:
What does Kentucky DNR say about Mountain Lions btw?

Farshad, I am not sure if you understand that DNR often will lie to keep the public from taking matters into their own hands, often a rare/endangered species that has a bad reputation is hushed up. It is much easier to claim dogs did something than scaring the public.
A good example of this is the Javan Tiger long said to be extinct until it attacked and ate a person in 2008.

He might just be a troll, although seeing that OP wants a Bernese Mountain Dog, he also doesn't really know that they have a very high prey drive. I really think that he might not know any better. Also that breed of dog it not the most friendly and can be animal aggressive, mix that with general I dunno what I am doing we should wait for the news report. FYI OP I'll stick up for your dog as well, so no worries there.

I’m gonna point out here you are just so wrong it’s not funny.
Earlier you said pit bulls are the least owned dog with the most attacks. First you are wrong, they are not even close to the least owned dog. Second, you are also wrong about them having the most attacks. Chihuahuas and Bull Dogs both have more reported bites than Pitbulls
I think it’s time you admit you are an autist and just leave.
Its not the damn breed. Its how the owners treated, trained and exposed their dog.
blame these sick dog men... smfh

There are two types of aggression with dogs, human and animal. Generally "guard breeds" will operate a bit differently with humans and it should be noted that pitbulls are very far from a guard breed. Pitbulls tend to show more animal aggression, everyone that owns a pitbull will tell you that they are crummy guard dogs. And if animal aggression is not addressed quickly and in a consistent manner then you end up with a dog that attacks other animals
Actually this is a real odd balled case, the owner was a dog trainer, people who knew the dogs said they were rather submissive, seems that the owner was having some kind of housing issues and the dogs were at her fathers, also the due to some of the facts released at first the sherrifs dept. did another press conference today. Since there was many people who also said that the initial release of information made no sense, to those familiar with dogs. It just is bonkers I don't think they had a real explanation to "why". The best they came up with was her dad kept these dogs outside, and the owner was not there every moment yet the owner did come 5 times at least a week. Also no bite to the throat either, that was incorrect. Honestly and I have dealt with powerful dogs both rotties and American Bulldogs that were "alpha" type dogs, and it just doesn't make sense in my head that this happens just out of the blue.
Also one of her friends rounded up the dogs, with no incident, so to me that isn't very convincing when we think of human aggression. Generally animals will test you a few times or become a bit more forceful as a test. I have seen this both with dogs as well as actual predators that were kept as "pets".
Apparently the injuries were to such a level that analysis of bites was not very likely. They do believe that there may have been feeding activity as well on the body. To those who know dogs, this is a very weird set of things. But a breed is not the problem, I have seen professional trainers/handlers get attacked but usually this is for police/military type of training.
Edit: No matter what this is a sad case setting aside whatever could have happened, I am sure that the family is still trying to make sense of everything that happened. All in all just a sad thing that happened here.
pls ur not comparing bernese moutain dogs to pit bulls? bernese mountain dogs are angels compared to the helldogs shitbulls.

i dont have to research what they were bred to do. according to statistics pit bulls are responsible for 1/3 of all attacks.
and bernese mountain dogs... when have you ever heard one of them attack? not often almost never. in fact I have never heard of a bernese mountain dog attack.

You are avoiding the question here so you are either very inexperienced with dogs, or you don't know and you are joking around in this whole thread. I am trying to be serious an animal is a responsibility, not sure if I should just joking with you or actually explain further so you and the dog you are thinking about getting end up being unhappy.
Do you understand about herding breeds?
