I tested version 5.3.1 and I can confirm that is the original one. Unfortunately I didn't have time to test the latest version from its release, was always in my "to do" list. When I read the news yesterday that the project was closed, I came across different links, most f which were infected.
I was able to find the copy of the original website where I got this infos about the original file:

DarkComet.exe 11,2 MB v. 5.3.1
md5 D761F3AA64064A706A521BA14D0F8741
sha1 AB7382BCFDF494D0327FCCCE9C884592BCC1ADEB

md5 of the link posted in this threat for version 5.3.1 match the original, therefor I can confirm that this link contains the real file (at lest 5.3.1)

the latest version is included it shows as 5.3.1 but it is 5.3.1F i prefer to keep the F versions cause imo
those are the most stable ones.
btw all the versions in the pack are from the site when they where still distributing.
