As long as I know Ratting is illegal because you break in someone's computer without permission, right? But let's say I have 1000 computers infected and all I do is mine with them, nothing to severe. What is the punishment for this? And what is the best way to not get caught?

You can't be 100% anonymous but to be on the 99% safe side use VPN. Don't fu*k with your slaves too much.
