Rise of The Phoenix
A new usergroup has been launched this week. The group is called Phoenix and replaces the previous group, 143. The group was purchased by Tibit and iKinky from the previous owner Daisy ♡. Autopost was replaced by iKinky as Tibit's partner for Phoenix after violating the terms of their agreement, more can be found about the issue here. 'Sin and Eternal. also lead Phoenix with Tibit and iKinky. The group's description is "We rise from the ashes of our past, strengthened by the flames, to light the way for all to see." It is an invite-only group focused mainly on the innuendo section and helping members across the site. More can be found in their public thread, Rise of The Phoenix.
Private Investigation Methods and Anonymity Section Now Open
This Sunday, Omniscient opened the Private Investigation Methods and Anonymity section. He stated in his thread that the section is mainly focused on methods to obtain and secure personal data, not to release it. The rules are strictly enforced in the section. The main rules for the section are that you can't post private data or have any discussions on intimidation, threatening behavior, blackmailing, or physically harming anyone. Omniscient has also given $5 off per week of a sticky in the section currently, more on that here.
HFNT - W4TCHL2ST - Recruiting Again Sir, leader of the HF News team, has recently announced a new wave of recruitment for the Writ3rs, the official usergroup responsible for running the HF News. Rise of the Phoenix
143 has burned itself out and Phoenix has risen from the ashes burning twice as bright to lead the way! Phoenix, owned by Tibit, is Hack Forums' new invite only innuendo/help based group. The group is looking for "genuine and honest people for the group who will desire to be active, helpful, and an asset to the Hack Forums community," as stated by Eternal. in this post. The group certainly came out in style, attracting a lot of attention and accumulating over a hundred posts on the informational thread (located here) in just one day. The group certainly has a successful future ahead for itself with loving members, iKinky, 'Sin, and Eternal. leading the way. Be a helpful and genuine member and you just might get an invite.
Call of the Void
Out with the old, in with the new! Nexus has officially changed from its League of Legends-based manifesto to one many have previously enjoyed; philosophical debate and conversation. Group owner, Hexicidal, has brought his group back to its roots this past week by renaming his group to L'appel du vide, which is French for 'call of the void.' If you remember, this group has previously been a SRPP based group twice before; Logic followed by Void. Many are excited for this change and await recruitment which will happen after the group finds an adequate userbar. If you would like to submit a userbar for the new group to use, head over here.
Eternal. was a leader of 143 and is now a leader of Phoenix.
Evangelist has been added to leadership in The Empire.
Viral Dragon has regained leadership of the Wiki Team. Welcome back.
Another Online Wallet Presumably Hacked
July 29th, at 10:49 PM, Vanish. posted a thread about some odd misbehavior on the online wallet, http://omcwallet.com. He hadn't been able to send money from the wallet for the past 3 days. While not being the owner of the wallet, the user Abraham Lincoln decided to investigate the problem. It didn't take long before everyone realized that the wallet most likely had been hacked the same way the others were, effectively leaving no online wallets left for Omnicoin users. The owner of the wallet Boldheart has been sent a PM regarding the issue, but does not seem to have been online since July 17th.
630: Welcome to 204thd edition of the HF News, today we're here with Eric. Any shout-outs you'd like to make before we begin? Eric: Yes, I'd like to make a shout-out to my niggas Cody, Daniel, Drew, Adam, Doc, and Jesse.
630: Quiet a mix of people, how did you meet some of these hacker boys and the infamous self proclaimed hacker Cody aka JW aka swaglord? Eric: I met some of them through AIM and PSN. But for Daniel and Cody, I've known them for about 3 years now. What once started as business deals, turned into great friendship. (full homo intended)
630: Well that's good to hear. You recently took a 6 month vacation from Hack Forums, what was the biggest change you noticed when you came back? Eric: Well I tend to only go in the Marketplace here at HF so the biggest thing I noticed was the new "Online accounts" section. I am glad Omni implemented this and made it ub3r only. I was tired of seeing accounts being sold where they shouldn't have been.
630: I kinda like the section because it makes it easier to find usernames. So what type of stuff do you do outside of the forum? Eric: I'm a full time college student. I study software development and network engineering.
630: Where do you plan on going with that? What would be your ideal dream job? Eric: I am more interested in the security side things of my program, so I hope to do something such as a system/network security specialist or anything that involves helping other's with there IT related problems.
630: Nice! Well I noticed you're pretty big in the "OG" market, how did you get into that stuff? Eric: I originally joined a site called NGU (NextGenUpdate) in 2009 and I saw someone mention this site a couple of times. So when I first joined this site in November 2011, I was intrigued by these "OG Gamertags" people had for sale. I have never heard of them before, and I thought it would be so cool to own one. So I began what any other new comer would do and I would start making accounts that I thought was "OG". Now I was a new member here and I knew that I wasn't trusted so I sold my "OG" accounts on NGU and then once I made enough money for l33t, I bought it and started to sell here. It took awhile to get the level of trust and respect I have today with people, but I just kept going at it. I would mainly buy things for low and flip them for profit, I was good at that.
630: What kind of advice would you offer for someone breaking into that market? Eric: The advice I would give to someone is for them to do their research on this "OG market", and what things have value and what things don't. Do not do what myself and others do when we first start and just assume what you have is OG, amazing, or has a lot of value. Also as sad as it is, buying a subscription such as l33t or ub3r is more likely to get you more trusted among the forums, although it is still very possible (but much harder)to do without it. Once you know what you want to get into, stick with it and keep going at it, even if it takes awhile.
630: So you're a pretty big gamer, what are you playing? Eric: I play PS3 and PS4 mostly. First person shooters are what I am best at.
630: Are there any titles that you're looking forward to? I want a PS3, but there aren't enough games for me to want to buy one. Eric: Ya I can't wait for Dying Light to come out, its a mixture of first person parkour and and zombie killing lol.
630: Sounds interesting, but not for me. So how would you rate your overall Hack Forums experience on a scale of 1-10? Eric: I would rate it as a 7.5 imo. It's made me great cash and friends, but I have seen/experienced a lot of things that I dont mind not seeing again.
630: If you could change one thing on site what would it be? Eric: I would take the scamming more seriously and actually ban people who have been proven they are scammers.
630: Well that's all the time we have for this interview. Are there any final remarks you'd like to make? Eric: I would just like to thank you for the interview, and just say that Shrek is love, Shrek is life.
Interview-inxy (Click to View)Alien: Welcome to the 204th edition of the HF News, today we're here with inxy. Any shout-outs you'd like to make before we begin? inxy: I'd like to give a shout-out to Stefan Burnett and all the members of Instinct. I love every single one of you (except for Package).
Alien: Ah, Package. Let's talk about that for a moment. For those who do not know, Package is the official mascot of Instinct. He receives a lot of criticism that's meant in jest. What are your thoughts on how he gets treated? inxy: Package is a hoe, always trying to get inside of the meals of other members. I think he smokes rocks, real shit.
Alien: You have been on Hack Forums for over four years now. Have have you only managed to create 34 threads in that amount of time? inxy: I'm too noided (paranoid) to be making threads out in public like that. I like staying in the Instinct SF, it makes me feel safe.
Alien: A lot of your posts involve sloths and you have a particular fascination with the YouTube video featuring a baby sloth getting a bath and squeaking. How important are sloths in your life? inxy: I have anxiety. Cute things like sloths or other cuddly animals calm me down when I'm feeling too noided.
Alien: Gotcha. You've accumulated quite a few posts, rep points, etc. in your time here. What milestone, accomplishment or stat are you most proud of? inxy: I just hit 20,000 posts. Never thought I'd make this many, but then again... I've seen footage.
Alien: That's a lot of posts. Pretty soon you'll receive the 24k Award. Are you in school or college and where do you currently reside? inxy: Yeah, I'll probably have that award soon unless junked posts are deleted. When you come out, your shit is gone. I consider myself a very private person, I don't wanna answer many personal life questions like that. I won't even tell people the year I was born.
Alien: I understand. Are there any personal details you wouldn't mind sharing? Perhaps what your hobbies are or what type of food you like to eat? inxy: My favorite food is coconuts. My most favorite hobby is teaching bitches how to swim.
Alien: Let's switch the focus back to Hack Forums. Out of all of the groups you've been in or are in now, which have you enjoyed the most and why? inxy: Sometimes I feel like a wheel, going into groups doing the best I can. The two I enjoy the most are Instinct and Illuminati. If you're in either of these groups then you've most likely seen me in your area.
Alien: There has been a lot of discussion on the site about the quality of groups lately. What sort of changes have you seen through the years regarding groups, or do you believe they operate and are ran pretty much the same as they always have been? inxy: I don't think anything has changed. It's just that some leaders are laid back and others are only there to fuck me out with activity checks all the time. Stimulation overload.
Alien: That's an interesting take on things. Is there anything we did not discuss today that you'd like to bring up? inxy: I'm on 4chan's /mu/ board a lot. My favorite artists are Death Grips, Neautral Milk Hotel, The Mars Volta, Sufjan Stevens, Mac DeMarco, and Radiohead.
Alien: Noted. Maybe you'll receive some contacts from HF members on there now. Is there anything else or does that about cover it? inxy: You'll be alright.
Alien: Well I thank you for your time and participation in this interview. I appreciate all the detailed responses and hope you enjoy the rest of your day. inxy: You'll be alright.
Bleep - BitTorrent's Decentralized, Encrypted Instant Messenger
BitTorrent has created a Peer to Peer (P2P) voice and text communication system that provides complete encryption and privacy. Unlike various other IM programs (Skype, Google Hangouts, etc), Bleep is decentralized and provides true anonymity to its users. Unfortunately, the program is in its Pre-Alpha stage and is only allowing a very select group of Invite-Only users to try it out. However, it is supposed to be released within a couple of months (unfortunately not in time for Defcon!) and I, among thousands of others, am excited for its release!
Defcon 22 This Weekend!
It is my hope that I will meet several HackForums members at Defcon 22. Defcon is the largest worldwide hacking and security convention that will take place August 7-10 at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Defcon is well-known to be the pinnacle of hacker community congregation. Several speakers will talk about a wide array of subjects from Kernel Exploits, Return Oriented Programming, Physical Security, Software Defined Radio, and many others. Tickets cost $220 (cash only at the door) and I, along with thousands of other hackers and security experts or enthusiasts, have been awaiting this for months. I will be writing the next edition of Hacking News from Defcon! Hope to see you there!
Major Companies Still Suffering From The Heartbleed Bug
It's been a few months since the discovery of the Heartbleed bug, yet, a very large amount of large companies still suffer from the aforementioned security hole. According to research by a security company named Venafi, 97% of the public-facing servers of big companies are still vulnerable to the Heartbleed bug. "Hackers can still exploit the security breach and steal data that is transmitted over SSL. Thousands of applications behind firewalls, including those of Cisco, Juniper, HP, IBM, Oracle, McAfee, Symantec and many more, are still exposed" the report says. To conclude, Venafi researchers stated that to fix the bug, installing a patch is not enough but the replacement of keys and certificates is required as well.
Stolen Laptop From Self Regional Healthcare Exposes Patient Data
A burglary in the facilities of the Self Regional Healthcare has resulted in the theft of a laptop containing sensitive data for a vast amount of patients. The incident occurred in May and was discovered by employees two days after the fact. The burglars, who were arrested, confessed the crime and informed the local authorities that the laptop has been dropped into a lake and is now destroyed. According to a police report, the laptop contains patient information such as names, social security numbers, driver license numbers, the name of the doctor supervising the patient, patient bank account numbers and diagnostic information.
Internet Explorer: New Vulnerability Record For The First Half Of 2014
One of the most (if not the most) notorious web browsers, Internet Explorer, has achieved a new record when it comes to the number of vulnerabilities. According to information by the National Vulnerability Database, Internet Explorer was vulnerable to 133 security holes for the first half of 2014 while, in 2013, the number of security holes was 130. The exact opposite has been the case for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, which appear to be vulnerable to 50 exploits whereas, the amount was 200 and 150 respectively in 2013. This research shows how other browsers have improved their security, while Internet Explorer, which was indeed a major competitor for the aforementioned browsers, has had a major decline regarding its integrity issues.
Tesla Plans To Install Charging Stations That Will Cover 98% Of The US Population By 2015
While Tesla is still a thing that has to really catch on, they see growth in their future. Tesla feels that customers do not want to buy an EV (Electric Vehicle) in fear of running out of power in the middle of nowhere with no way to get home. Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk wanted to put these fears to rest, though. He says that Tesla will have Supercharger stations all over the US, that could be easily reached by 98% of the US population. Included in this discussion was a GIF of Tesla’s charging station locations (see below), showing how many would actually be put in place by then. As of right now, there is only about 103 around the US. Tesla plans to have these put in in hopes that most people would get rid of their regular cars in place of a more environmentally friends electric vehicle. The US isn't the only place where they are planning for expansion, though. Elon Musk briefly stated that they would be expanding in both Europe and Asia soon. He didn't go into detail on the European aspect of it, but he said that they already have stations slated to be built in China.
If you would like to see a map of the charging station locations, click here.
XBMC Ditches Xbox Roots, Renames Media App
XBMC got its start in the Xbox world, Xbox literally being in its name. XBMC happens to stand for Xbox Media Center, and while it was big a while ago, it seems to hold little to no relevance these days. The entertainment platform is coming back to life now though, with its new branding. The new platform will be called Kodi Entertainment Center, and it will start rolling out on V14.0 of the media center. The creators of Kodi say that the new name is because it is a little more universal and less prone to legal issues from the guys over at Microsoft. The development team also now have full control over their trademark, so it makes it easier for them to protect their assets in the event that other companies do come for them. More information and where to get Kodi can be found at this link.
Google’s Floating Barge Will Be No More
A while back, several news sources covered the mysterious barge owned by Google that came out of nowhere. The barge itself was parked in the Portland Harbor and was a four-story structure, originally designed to be a showroom for Google’s new inventions. It would allow people to come out and check all the new stuff out and see the advancements Google had made so far. Alas, the barge has come to an end now. The company sold the barge to an anonymous international barging company where it will be broken down and taken away for scrap. Google did not disclose much more about it, nor did they divulge whether they were going to be working on a showroom somewhere else. We expect more news to come at a later time.
The Colin McRae Game
Codemasters’ Colin McRae Rally launched on Steam earlier this week for $6.99, but it’s probably not the game you’re hoping for. Though the game’s description on Steam says it’s based on content from the 90 percent Metacritic rated Colin McRae Rally 2.0 originally released on the first PlayStation, it’s actually a port of the mobile version of the game released in 2013 (which has a Metacritic score of 69 percent). The game’s trailer also says that it’s been “remastered for HD,” and that it includes “original cars and locations.” Add to that the fact that it only mentions the mobile version once in the "About the Game" section, and one could easily come to the wrong conclusion that he or she is buying an HD remake of the classic PlayStation game.
Xbox teases Gamescom 2014 announcements with trailer
Microsoft announced this week that Xbox's press conference at Gamescom 2014 will take place at 1 PM GMT on August 12, 2014. The event will be live streamed on all Microsoft platforms: Xbox Live, Xbox.com, Windows Phone, and even through Xbox's Twitch channel. The company did not announce what would be showcased during the briefing, but stated that it would contain ”biggest reveals and the hottest highlights.” In a video linked below, they also tease that there will be ”big surprises you will not want to miss” throughout Gamescom. Sony is expected to have its own press conference on the same day at 6 PM GMT, Square Enix's press conference is expected to follow that on August 13, 2014.
Dead Island Movie Back in Development
Publisher Deep Silver is taking another attempt at making its zombie game Dead Island into a movie. According to Deadline, Deep Silver has partnered with Occupant Entertainment to package, produce, and finance a movie based on the game, set on a paradise island infested with the undead. “The Dead Island universe offers a rich and unique setting that can expand beyond the pure gaming experience,” Deep Silver owner Koch Media CEO Dr. Klemens Kundratitz said. “We are very much looking forward to seeing Dead Island open up to new audiences and showing off the fun everybody at Deep Silver has with this brand.” If the news sounds a little familiar it’s because Deep Silver made a similar deal with Lionsgate back in 2011, though that project fell through. When the rights reverted back to Deep Silver, it took the project to Occupant, which was one of the original bidders.
Destiny’s six-player raids can only be played with friends
It was revealed this week that Destiny's six-player raids will be a friends-only feature for matchmaking, and you cannot just be teamed up with a few strangers through matchmaking. According to writer Luke Smith, "Raids will be the most difficult content in Destiny and may take a couple of hours to complete, the decision to limit it to friends only is “a bit of a risk” because it requires players to have five other friends available to play the content with. The activity is going to take you and your group of five buddies into a place that you’ve never been,” he told IGN. “A place that you will return to frequently. And [it will] demand of you things you’ve never even really been asked to do in a shooter before.” Destiny is set to be released in a little over a month, on September 9, 2014 for the Play Station 3, Play Station 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms.
Flappy Bird Returns With Multiplayer
As creator Dong Nguyen promised, Flappy Bird has returned. A new version of the massively popular mobile game is now available on Amazon Fire TV, presumably before a wider release for iOS and Android devices. The new version of Flappy Bird is called Flappy Birds Family. This new version includes new features like a Person vs. Person mode and, as if the standard green pipes weren't challenging enough, additional obstacles (ghosts) to avoid. The game is still "very hard," according to the description. Flappy Birds Family is compatible with Amazon's proprietary video game controller and the Fire TV remote. When Nguyen announced in May that Flappy Bird would return, he said the new version would be "less addictive." One of the first reviews for Flappy Bird Family says this goal has been met. "This version is not as addictive as the original, and for that I am thankful!" wrote one reviewer. Nguyen removed the game from iTunes and Google Play in February after writing on Twitter: "I cannot take this anymore." The decision to pull the game was a serious one, as the title was pulling in an average of $50,000 in daily ad revenue.
Xbox Live causing Xbox 360 game launch issues
According Microsoft’s Xbox Live Status page, there are problems with the Xbox Live service that will cause issues with your Xbox 360 while launching games. “It’s come to our attention that some of you are seeing a black screen when attempting to launch games and applications,” reads the status update from this week. “Hang in there, Xbox members, we’re on it! Thanks for your patience while we work to resolve this issue. We’ll update you again as soon as we have more information.” It appears that the rest of Xbox Live's services, such as music and video streaming as well as applications and the marketplace, are not effected by this issue. A workaround for this was found that you can launch the game while you are disconnected from Xbox Live and then connect to Xbox Live once the game has been launched.
Release Dates for the Week of August 3, 2014:
Sacred 3 - PC, Play Station 3, Xbox 360 - August 5, 2014
Table Top Racing - Play Station Vita - August 5, 2014
Ultra Street Fighter IV - Play Station 3, Xbox 360 - August 5, 2014

Unlocking smartphones is legal now
Until now, unlocking a smartphone without service provider's permission was illegal. President Barack Obama signed a bipartisan bill into law last Friday, that made unlocking smartphone without service provider's permission legal and valid. Unlocking cellphone became illegal in 2013, now people can modify smartphone firmware and remove carrier restrictions. There was an official online petition that collected over 114,000 signatures which led Whitehouse to respond to this issue. This act is said to be revised in every 3 years leaving a bit of uncertainty.
Israel Resumes Attack After Ceasefire
Israel announced a ceasefire after storms of violence to allow those injured to be helped and for a quick survey of the damage. This self-declared ceasefire didn't last long as Israel began the attacks again hours later. An Israeli spokesman has said the attack is almost over and the "Hamas tunnel network is almost destroyed". At least 20 Gazans have been reported killed after the attacks started again. Israels attack is not motivated by greed and trying to take over the city, in fact they want Gaza to remain in Palestinians hands, instead their motive is to remove the Hamas militia group who are help up in the city. More to follow next week.
ISIS Take Over Hydroelectric Dam
Islamic State in Iraq (ISIS) has taken over a hydroelectric dam, after taking over a city close by only two months ago. ISIS is known for murdering dozens of people at a time through public executions, crucifixion and other horrendous acts. So far ISIS has taken over parts of Syria and Iraq and a member of Middle East Forum has said the takeover of dams is a tactic the group uses as a way to take over the nearby towns and the people. The dam ISIS took over this time was Iraq's largest hydroelectric dam creating more panic and belief ISIS is becoming too powerful. Military forces close to the dam will not attack the group or try to reclaim the dam as they are heavily outnumbered.
World War I Centenary Anniversary
2014 marks the anniversary for World War I and is a time for remembrance. The Great World War will be remembered not only for its victories, but for its loses. Many Mothers lost their sons and many Wife's lost their lovers and so this year we should remember those who never returned. If you look past France and Belgium along the borders there is many white tombstones, memorials to soldiers who never had the chance to return to their loved ones. There was no winners in this war, many people were lost and killed, so what I want you to do Hackforums is just to take a minute of silence for those heroes that died and fought for our rights. Rest in peace.
Euro Founders as Dollar Rises
The Euro managed to recovery after recently falling to a nine-month low on Wednesday, according to US GDP reports. The currency traded at $1.3386 according as the US dollar increased due to improving economic indicators. Data released by the US earlier this week shows that the second quarter of this year was a success for the currency, as it grew at an unexpected pace compared to the first quarter. The Federal Reverse stated that it was 'confident about the direction of the inflation' however they are still worried about stability in the labor market. Sadly this isn't the best for the Euro, as it plummeted during this period to a low that hasn't been seen in a while. Some analysts have changed their forecasts dramatically due to this.
BTC.com purchased for $1.1 million
The Bitcoin domain BTC.com was purchased for $1.1 million by Josh Garza of GAWMiners. As investors mine their way into the Bitcoin world, the value is expected to increase, and Bitcoin businesses are having more money invested in them. The domain has been on the market for a few weeks now. Josh stated that he had some huge things in store for cryptocurrencies as a whole. If you aren't aware, GAWMiners is one of the largest cryptocurrency mining vendors, and this purchase shows Josh's interests in pushing the company forward. Investors looking at the coin and unsure on whether or not it is safe to invest in the coin will see this as an influence to their decisions. Josh stated "I am not this guy who just believes my company needs to grow, I feel the industry as a whole needs to grow."
Fees to Kill the Debit Card Dream?
Bitcoin users have been innovating new ways to make the coins more accessible to the general person. In the beginning you'd be lucky if someone exchanged Bitcoins for a couple of bucks. A programmer bought a pizza for 10,000 Bitcoins, which at current rates would be $5,828,882*. Now we can get BTC transferred straight to our banks in BTC from a click on Coinbase or an exchange. Obviously, that was only one milestone. A Bitcoins Debit Card, sounds interesting? You may have heard that Xapo, a highly secured Bitcoin wallet company, announced that they would be creating such a product to sync with wallets using their service. Several other companies followed and announced that they would be offering the same at some point in time. Sadly with transaction fees, and most importantly provider fees, this may not be possible. Xapo initially stated a low amount of fees, but a recent fees and limits schedule says the exact opposite. And no, that doesn't include ATM fees.
What the Duck is duckNote?
duckNote is a relatively recent cryptocurrency, which utilises CryptoNote to enable its offering of anonymous and untraceable transactions. The currency is resistant to analysis and blockchain tracking, making it preferable for those users requiring anonymity with their online transactions. Like the massively successful Bitcoin, duckNote employs a distribution system whereby the block rewards are halved every 11,000 blocks, down to a lowest reward value of 150 XDN. Block rewards start at an impressive 320,000 duckNotes. However, the main thing that makes duckNote so appealing to crypto-fanatics is that it is ASIC-resistant. The duckNote work algorithm means that GPU mining is inefficient, both in terms of energy and hardware costs. The currency is optimised to be mined solely through CPU work, a feature long desired by many users of crytpocurrencies. For more information, check out the duckNote website.
Stripe with Stellar: A Serious Currency Contender
One thing stopping Bitcoin, the worlds largest cryptocurrency, from achieving total mainstream use is that fact that it has no method of support for traditional, real-world currencies. Spotting an opportunity, small Irish firm Stripe is attempting to content with Bitcoin through their newly backed currency, Stellar. Stripe have invested $3,000,000 USD into the Stellar currency, in return for 2% of all Stellar coins. Stellar allows payments to be sent and received in a variety of different currency pairs, including Bitcoin. This would allow an individual to pay using Bitcoins, and the seller would be able to accept that transaction as if the payment was sent in any other mainstream currency, such as USD, EUR, GBP and JPY. Supporting both Bitcoin and real world currency, could Stellar be the next serious contender in the digital currency market?
The Changing Face of the Dollar
Barrack Obama said last week that it would be a 'pretty good idea' to replace the line-up of revered and respected past presidents, with more women. Whilst Congress have jurisdiction over minting coins and their designs, an act of Congress passed in 1862 gives the power of paper-currency design to the secretary of the Treasury. As of yet, it is unsure whether plans are to introduce new denominations of currency, or simply rid an existing denomination of it's beloved president. Due to the 2001 Legal Tender Modernization Act, changing the design of the $1 bill is prohibited, but no such rules exist for all other denominations. In the history of the US Dollar, only four women have ever appeared on any official currency. This discussion was prompted by a letter from a young Massachusetts girl, sent to Obama's office. Treasury officials have expressed concern over the suggestion, citing the fact that the USD is the 'de facto world currency', and that any alteration of its design would be likely to confuse non-US users of the currency. The Treasury stated that they have no plans to introduce new denominations of currency, suggesting that if this were to be implemented, it would have to be existing currency that was modified.
* As of writing this article, due to constant changes to the cryptocoin this may not be accurate as of present.
Truck Sales Power Boom
Car companies are continuing an upswing from car sales that began in April. Ford sales have gone up by 15 per cent and Chrysler sales have also raised 7 per cent. This is nothing compared to car sales in Canada alone have gone up nearly 25 per cent since April. Ford has sold nearly 29,000 cars and trucks in July compared to the 25,200 made 1 year ago. Sales have gone up 25 per cent compared to last months of only 18 per cent. BMO predicts that last months car sales will be the highest since 2007.
Protector & Gamble is Prepared to Shrink
One of the worlds largest consumer product makers that they will be selling more then half of it's brand in the near future. Products that they will be keeping has not been released at this time. The companies goal is to sell products to other house hold names. CEO A.G. Lafley said the company should have done this a long time ago. For its fiscal fourth quarter, Procter & Gamble said that the cost cutting helped boost its profit by 38 per cent.
U.S. adds 209,000 Jobs but Unemployment Rate Ticks Up
U.S. employers have increased their hiring surge into July by adding a total of 209,000 jobs. It was the sixth straight month of job growth above 200,000, evidence that businesses are gradually shedding the caution that had marked the 5-year-old recovery. The unemployment rate has still continued to raise from 6.1 per cent to 6.2 per cent. As more and more Americans look for jobs, less places are hiring. Average job gains over the past six months have raised to nearly 244,00 jobs. This is the best average for in eight years.
Amazon Blocks Disney DVD Pre-Order
Amazon has blocked the option to pre-order the hit Disney "Captain America: The Winter Soldier". But the movie remains available on Amazon's video streaming service. Amazon is making these decisions to squeeze studios on DVD pricing. However, Amazon cannot afford to lose Disney while vice versa. Amazon used this same technique on Warner Bros. earlier this year, Amazon blocked pre-orders for "The Lego Movie" but the issue was resolved a little after a month. Also, it's just not the DVD business that deals with these issues, Amazon is now lowering pricing on books as well. Amazon says they'd sell seventy-four percent more e-Books if dropped to $9.99 a piece rather than the current $14.99 per copy.
Poverty in the Suburbs
Amongst all areas effected by the "Great Recession", some suburban neighborhoods have had the greatest increases in poverty. The recent recession has completely reversed economic gains that were made in the late nineties. This has made suburban areas have higher poverty rates than the inner cities that these areas surround. During the 2000s, the poor population living in high-poverty urban neighborhoods grew by 21 percent to reach 5.9 million. In the suburbs it more than doubled, going up by 105 percent to reach 4.9 million. Some of the areas hit the hardest are Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Augusta, Georgia; and Greenville, South Carolina.
Ebola and the Economy
The recent Ebola outbreak which has claimed over `1,000 lives, has begun to effect the economy in West Africa. Major corporations have had to stop business because of this epidemic. So far business has been disrupted in the center of the crisis, including countries such as Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea. The outbreak has been labled as an "international public health emergency" by The WHO. An economist at IHS Global Insight says that Liberia and Sierra Leone will have prices rise as items such as food and other necessity will become scarce due to this outbreak. However, multinational companies that do business in the area scrambling to respond to this crisis.
Targeting Brain Cancer in Children
Previous studies have suggested that a pregnant mother's exposure to carcinogens can be linked to brain tumors later in the child's life. Complementing this is new research suggesting that a father's exposure to similar carcinogens before fertilization can have equally as great of an impact. The research team compared environmental factors of 306 cases of children with tumors versus 950 children without tumors and found that fathers who work in close proximity to carcinogens were twice as likely to have a child develop a brain tumor. The researchers suggest that couples should weigh possible environmental factors before planning for parenthood.
Researchers Eliminate HIV in Cell Cultures
HIV is one of the world's most deadly diseases to humans and is also one of the most difficult to cure. However, significant steps have been made in developing an effective cure for this debilitating disease. For the first time ever, a team of researchers has managed to remove all traces of latent HIV from living cells in a culture. The team used a combination of a nuclease and targeting RNA to hunt down and remove portions of HIV's DNA from infected cells, allowing the body's DNA-repairing mechanisms to take over. The success of the experiment in living cells may help accelerate the possible treatment to animal and human trials.
Transparent Mice
Most of what we know about anatomy is done through dissection studies, where dead organisms a sliced apart and their insides examined. This creates room for inaccuracies, as cutting and reassembling a body can move things out of place. A new technique developed by joint work between Stanford and Caltech researchers provides an interesting new tool for anatomical studies. The team used a combination of a transparent gel and a detergent to remove lipids from a dead mouse, leaving it transparent. Fluorescent dyes can then be injected into organ systems to map microstructures. The Caltech group plans to use this new method to map the nervous system.
Cultural Influences on Schizophrenia
One of the most well-known symptoms of schizophrenia is the presence of auditory hallucinations, most often in the form of voices. An anthropologist from Stanford has found evidence that the voices are shaped by the culture a person lives in. Patients in individualist societies, such as the US, reported hearing harsh, degrading voices, while patients living in community-based collectivist cultures, such as India and Africa, experienced more pleasant, playful voices. This disparity has been suggested to have clinical implications for psychotherapy across cultures.
That's Some "Bullsh*t"
Former Chicago Bulls player Rick Brunson was recently charged with sexual assault, criminal sexual abuse, aggravated battery and domestic battery. This past June, Brunson scheduled a massage appointment at a fitness center under the name of Patrick Ewing, another former NBA player. He used the fake name because the massage therapist no longer wanted to provide her services for Brunson. The prosecutors asked that Brunson never return to this center and that he was no longer welcomed.
Red Sox's New Roster
Calling all Boston fans, this one is dedicated to you! The Red Sox have recently picked up 7 new players to be apart of the 'Socks'. In return for the new recruits, some of the Boston players have been traded to other teams. For example, Kelly Johnson, Yankee's former second baseman, was traded for Stephen Drew, who is now the current Yankees' second baseman from Boston. In addition, some of the new recruits are Allen Craig, Yoenis Cespedes, and Joe Kelly, who replaced John Lackey and Jon Lester. Middlebrooks, one of Boston's infielders stated "Coming here today, it's like spring training. It's like half a new team."
Should Ray Rice be Forgiven?
Twenty-seven year old Ray Rice, Baltimore Raven's running back, says he made the biggest mistake of his life. This past weekend Rice apologized twice for the incident between him and his then-fiancee. It began when he assaulted her, seen pulling her out of an elevator unconscious in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Mr. Rice was suspended for two games and has been apologizing ever since. The league has been selling Ray Rice jerseys in pink aimed at the female fans to show that the NFL does care for them, and that the NFL doesn't take abuse of players or spouses lightly. Supposedly, Rice is eventually going to help others in the future who are caught in domestic violence situations. Rice has been taking counseling for his actions and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says that the NFL needs to be stricter and lay down the law more often, saying "I think what's important here is that Ray is being accountable for it. He recognizes he made a horrible mistake and he knows what he did is unacceptable by his standards and by our standards."
Another injury for Tiger
This week in Akron, Ohio, at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, Woods withdrew yet again after hitting his tee shot on the ninth hole. It started with an awkward swing stance as he was hitting out of a fairway bunker on the second hole. "I fell back into the bunker," Woods said. "I just jarred it, and it's been spasming ever since." Woods had surgery on March 31st to alleviate a pinched nerve in his back in the beginning of 2014, which left him questioning the future of his golfing career. The pain from that surgery soon died away after another surgery, called a microdiscectomy. There is no knowing whether Woods will be attending the PGA championship this week in Lousville. He seemed very irritated after he withdrew. "I don't know," he said. "Just trying to get out of here."
Update on Wiggins
Since last week's article regarding Andrew Wiggins, not much has changed. With Wiggins' being the center of all trade discussion there are some questions that need to be answered. Wiggins' says, "I just want to play for a team that wants me. So whichever team wants me I'll play for." The Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor has told the press that the trade with Love and Wiggins will likely be made by August 23rd or 24th. The first day Wiggins is eligible for trade is August 23rd. Wiggins isn't too upset about the trade -- he says in the interview that he isn't taking anything personal.

This week Bon Jovi wrote a letter titled "Why We're Bidding on the Buffalo Bills." The letter contains information regarding his plans for the franchise, but nothing over the rumors of his intentions of relocating the franchise to Toronto. He is calling it his intention to "carry on Ralph Wilson's legacy". Many fans in Buffalo are upset; They're making T-shirts saying "Bon Jovi free zone" as well as signs.
Iran Restricting Birth Control to Increase Population
Iran is placing a ban on vasectomies and other birth control options. Since 1986, Iran’s birth rate has fallen from 3.22 percent down to a measly 1.22 percent. Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, says "Iran’s population should be close to 150 million or more!" He exclaimed that reaching such a goal would strengthen Iran’s national identity. In response to this, lawmakers have recently approved a bill that would imprison doctors for up to five years for performing birth control operations. However, the bill requires more discussion and ratification before it becomes an official Law.

African Ebola Outbreak Has Worsened
Two Americans, who were returning home from a trip to West Africa, have contracted the Ebola virus. The first patient is estimated to reach the U.S on Saturday afternoon. Both patients are expected to be held at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. The “Emory Unit”, which was created in association with the CDC, will care for these patients and is purposed to care for those who have contracted infectious diseases. Dr. Bruce Ribner has stated that many safety precautions have been put in place to prevent the spread of the Ebola virus. This includes monitoring and controlling anything that comes in and out of the unit. “I have no concerns about either my personal health or the health of other health care workers who will be working in that unit” said Ribner. Many experts have said that other people with the virus will most likely come to the U.S in time. The symptoms of Ebola, which start out like other common diseases including the common flu, then further progress to abdominal pain and extensive bleeding. The National Health Institute stated on Thursday that it will begin to test an experimental Ebola vaccine in humans as early as September. Currently, West Africa is facing an Ebola outbreak with over 1200 cases and 600 plus deaths since March. This virus is among the most deadly ever discovered. Up to 90% of people infected are killed by the disease. It is generally an unfortunate and gruesome death consisting of internal bleeding and severe fever. If caught early however, death from Ebola can be prevented, and it is difficult to pass on the virus unknowingly. One must show symptoms before transferring it which usually happens through either waste or bodily fluids (blood). The likelihood of it spreading to the western world is slim to none. Anyone showing feverish symptoms at an airport where the outbreak currently is at will be tested to see if they are safe to travel out of the region.
8/4/14 - International Tiger Day
Yes, it is a real thing. About a century ago, tiger hunting was considered normal in Asia. It was a way of "conquering the beast," not to mention the value of their fur. Overall, tigers have lost about 90% of their original habitat due to human interference and deforestation. Of about 100,000 tigers that were alive 100 years ago, only about 3000 of their species remain today. Several tiger species are already extinct, and the number is only growing. Humans and tigers are currently competing for space. Obtaining lumber and resources can be very difficult when at risk of tiger attacks, and tigers that create problems typically end up dead with their fur on the black market.
Oil on the Coast of Mozambique
Recently, oil has been discovered along the coast of Mozambique. What does this mean though? Well, this area is one of the most bio-diverse in the world, and many do not want the area to end up as another biological disaster like Nigeria. On a different note, it is one of the most stunning coastlines in the world. Many African people use the coast as a source of income from fishing and how they sustain living. Crystal blue waters and few tourists make this area somewhat of a true paradise. Since the slave trade, this area has been left for the most part alone, and nature has taken over to make it something beautiful. Seeing the simple life of the people there in tune with the world around them has a special quality that can not be described.

The 37-year old sprang up and attempted to punch Bieber before being escorted outside by security. The Baby singer then proceeded to brag that Kerr, a Victoria's Secret model, had promised to “make him a man," while married to Bloom. Bieber's relationship with Kerr is also said to be the cause of the couple's breakup.

No injuries were reported due to this incident. Gomez blames the paparazzi. Later that day she made a tweet stating 'Only I'd get into an accident because of men with cameras who have great careers and offer the couple a package at Burke Williams. Oh LA.' Perhaps 2014 hasn't been the best year for the singer, checking into rehab early in the year and being haunted by paparazzi since. Gomez denied that the reason was due to substance abuse.

The film is due to be released November of 2014.

This deal was finalized on the 1st of August after being approved by the US government. Apple CEO Tim Cook made a tweet shortly after saying "Welcome to the family---Jimmy, Dre, Luke, Ian and the entire beats team!". Jamie Foxx to star in Mike Tyson biopic
Portraying the baddest man to ever walk on earth will not be easy, but it is a task that Jamie Foxx is looking to take on as he stars in an upcoming Mike Tyson biopic. Production has not yet started on the motion film, as the script and supporting cast is still in the works. Terrence Winter is said to be the man penning the script for the biopic. Winter is known for his script that brought The Wolf Of Wall Street from the pages of a book to the big screen. The report has no word on which elements of Tyson’s life the film will focus upon, but given the boxer’s “colorful” career, there should be plenty of incidents to choose from. The project is currently without a studio, although Foxx’s manager, Rick Yorn, is acting as producer, and charged with bringing the core elements together to present to distributors. There is no set release date.
Paul Feig set to direct new female-led Ghostbusters film
With plenty of shake ups from the original film, Sony Pictures is looking to change things up from our beloved Ghostbusters films. Sony is said to be targeting Paul Feig to direct and produce a new female-led Ghostbusters film. Feig is understood to be the frontrunner for the job but formal negotiations have yet to begin. However, Feig has expressed an interest in directing and producing the film. Feig is mostly known for his hit movies Bridesmaids and The Heat. It was reported that the film will not be a sequel to the original 1980's Ghostbusters films, which starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis as a team of parapsychology professors tackling paranormal activity in New York, but will instead be a complete reboot, with a fresh plot and cast. Also rumored, the film is likely to be led by an all-female team of Ghostbusters. Ivan Reitman, who directed Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989) was in line to direct the next installment of the franchise but backed out after the death of Ghostbusters actor Harold Ramis in February of this year.
Studio Ghibli may stop making films
For all you anime fans out there, this may come as a shock and something that will deeply sadden you. It is rumored that When Marnie Was There may be Studio Ghibli's final film, if rumors of the Japanese animation studio's imminent closure are true. Studio co-founder Hayao Miyazaki retired last summer, after completing The Wind Rises. Earlier this year co-founder and producer Toshio Suzuki stopped producing films and became Ghibli's general manager. This started the change and shift in direction of the studio itself. Although the reports are unconfirmed, it is rumored that financial problems are the reason that When Marnie Was There would be Ghibli's final film before they just "manage the copyrights", or make money from, their older material. A source was cited saying "There's no choice but to dissolve the studio, because it's unable cross the high hurdle of announcing a new film on an annual basis."
Tom Felton and Joseph Fiennes starring in Bible epic

Events will detail the Roman centurion, who was sent out by Pontius Pilate to lead an investigation on Jesus's death, locate Jesus's missing body, and stop a developing rebellion. Throughout this quest, Clavius, although agnostic, begins to believe in the resurrection. Unfortunately not much else is known about the film, including Felton's position; it is noted that he is definitely going to be a large role in the film.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Conquers Box Office

With that, I'll leave you with the link to the trailer.
Aug 10, 2014 05:08 PM (This post was last modified: Aug 11, 2014 02:31 PM by Oak.)
Everything came together rather well for this edition, only one of the posts has not yet been edited / proofread, but I'll edit it in later tonight.
I expect, with the latest and possibly last reconfigurations to my new system, things should progress into an unprecedented level excellence and distinction.
As everyone gets used to the regular position schedule, we'll be able to churn out editions on a perpetual and timely basis, and of exceptional quality.
Now that we are near the "smooth sailing" period I previously mentioned - which has, surprisingly, taken a mere five editions to be within our grasp - you should expect some major / minor content tweaks.
I will be focusing on expanding the "cream" content - similar to that of the 1st post - throughout the HF News, and removing / replacing the less popular sections.
If you think you have a good idea of something you'd like to read in the HF News, we're all ears, so send in an Opinion under our current topic.
Until 205, au revoir!

"I watched the phoenix hatch from an egg when they
were wanting a userbar for their group. A lot of userbars
were made by the talented graphic designers of HF. Some
people attempted a lot of designs to get the phoenix get
up on its legs. After some weeks of tough decision the
phoenix got its userbar and could not walk around freely.
Phoenix has evolved from 143. Phoenix also focuses on
innuendo and personal life just like 143 but i think this
group will be batter. I know phoenix will be a great group
and start to fly with the new leaders." -Jopy
"I think that phoenix is just a graphic rework of
143 with new leaders. I'm not saying it's bad, but I just don't
see the point. I support the idea and goals of the group, but
I've almost never seen anything come from the members of
143. Hopefully phoenix will be a bit different." -Kraken™
